All the teams for Round 7 in the Smithy’s VFL.

Kamdyn McIntosh is set to play his first VFL game in five years when Richmond takes on ladder-leader Footscray at Swinburne Centre on Sunday.

The Tigers also regain ruckman Sam Naismith and key forward Jacob Bauer from the AFL and injury respectively, with Noah Cumberland promoted and defender Mutaz El Nour sidelined for two months by an untimely shoulder injury just before the mid-season draft.

The unbeaten Bulldogs have made three changes, Oskar Baker, Charlie Clarke and Buku Khamis returning from the AFL side, while Luke Cleary, Joel Freijah and Alex Keath go up.

Box Hill Hawks have named a powerful team for their annual Gippsland sojourn to take on Sandringham at Wonthaggi on Sunday – but the Zebras have a big inclusion of their own.

Defenders Denver Granger-Barras (toe) and Changkuoth Jiath (hamstring) have been named to make their first appearances of the season, Josh Ward and Harry Morrison have again been dropped from the AFL team and Cooper Stephens is back from injury, with Jai Serong promoted and Ned Reeves, Henry Hustwaite and Jack O’Sullivan injured.

Mattaes Phillipou has been named to make his VFL debut alongside Zaine Cordy after being dropped by St Kilda for the recovered Ben Paton, while both halves of the highly anticipated ruck duel are out with Reeves hurting his hand and Tom Campbell the held-over Saints emergency.

Hunter Clark has been named despite a knee scare last week, but the luckless Matt Allison (ankle) is back on the sidelines along with Vince Zagari (ankle).

Southport is unchanged for the second straight week as it prepares for the Doc Mackenzie Cup Coast Clash against red-hot reigning premier Gold Coast on Sunday.

The Suns reprised their 2023 dominance in obliterating Brisbane Lions last week and will turn their attention to their other neighbour, having made six changes due to the AFL call-ups for Alex Sexton, Joel Jeffrey, Alex Davies, Lloyd Johnston and Bodhi Uwland, while Sam Day is the travelling emergency to Darwin.

Young guns Ethan Read and Will Graham have been demoted alongside Rory Atkins, with the Suns also regaining Brandon Ellis and handing a debut to QAFL star Corey Hitchcock, who joined Broadbeach after playing nine WAFL games for Peel and Subiaco over the past three years.

No.3 draft pick Zane Duursma is set to play his first VFL game for North Melbourne after being dropped from the AFL team, and he will come up against Swans champion Luke Parker, who will spend a third week in the VFL despite averaging 36 disposals per game.

Duursma played twice for Casey Demons last year, with his poise rocketing him up the draft boards, so he will be a key factor in this contest.

Former Port Adelaide ruckman Sam Hayes will also make his Roos debut and assistant coach Jarrod Lienert returns, with Hugh Greenwood, Charlie Lazzaro, Will Phillips and Toby Pink promoted.

The Swans regain their own ruckman in Peter Ladhams alongside Indhi Kirk among six changes, with Aaron Francis and Caleb Mitchell having travelled to Perth with the AFL team and Gus Sheldrick, Jack Buller, Will Kelly and Tom Longmire injured.

Frankston regains Josh Butland from injury for its second tough trip in a row as it flies north to meet GWS at Blacktown International Sports Park on Saturday.

Butland kicked five goals in the Dolphins’ head-turning win over Port Melbourne on Good Friday but hasn’t played since due to a broken finger, with his return a big boost for a team looking to regain its spot in the top 10 following a big loss to Geelong last week.

Fellow forward Blake O’Leary is back after missing the Cats with a sore knee, but defender Jackson Voss won’t make the trip due to a one-match suspension.

The Giants have plucked former Dolphins Academy member Josh Smith from Mornington Peninsula powerhouse Dromana to make his debut, with Conor Stone and Nick Haynes back in the AFL team.

Smith, 19, is a 197cm key forward who has been deputising in the ruck for the MPFNL Tigers – and he could even line-up on Frankston defender Josh Smith, which would create a rare quirk for viewers.

Williamstown has swapped a forward for a back ahead of welcoming Essendon to DSV Stadium on Saturday, with Blake Coleman returning from a hamstring issue to replace Ryley Stoddart, who has the same problem.

The Bombers have Jye Menzie (shoulder) and Zach Reid (hamstring) returning through the VFL, while mid-season draft prospect Oskar Smartt is back after an impressive start to the year, with Matt Guelfi promoted and Sam Weideman held over.

Northern Bullants have rushed Pascoe Vale’s Aaron Hilton onto their list and into the team to host Collingwood on Saturday, with Ryan Gardner to miss six weeks with a hamstring injury and Will Wallace out with a bruised sternum.

The Magpies have made a host of changes to cover for injuries at AFL level, with Jack Bytel, Reef McInnes and Joe Richards named to take on West Coast at Marvel Stadium and Ed Allan the carryover emergency. Meanwhile, Josh Carmichael and Tew Jiath will miss through injury.

Among their replacements are mid-season draft fancy Jack Hutchinson and former Northern Bullants skipper Tom Wilson.

It’s a who’s who at the selection table as Carlton and Casey Demons roll out a host of AFL names for their must-win Smithy’s VFL clash at IKON Park on Friday night.

The Blues will regain key defender Caleb Marchbank for his first appearance of the season after a back injury, while Orazio Fantasia will play his first VFL game since his days at Essendon in 2018 and will be joined by David Cuningham in the Blues’ line-up.

And the Demons will regain the services of Ben Brown and Marty Hore after they were withdrawn from Sunday’s loss to Williamstown, with Bailey Laurie dropped by Melbourne and Taj Woewodin also a chance to play after being named the substitute on Thursday night.

Brodie Kemp was the only AFL player called up for Thursday night footy as the Blues regained several players to the top team from injury, with experienced VFL players Bailey Lambert, Tom Phillips and Zavier Maher among those who had to make way.

Carlton has a VFL debutant, with Echuca United youngster Oliver Poole given the nod after solid form for Bendigo Pioneers in the Coates Talent League.

For Casey, Josh Schache was held over last week but now has a sore achilles and won’t play at either level, while Paddy Cross returns from injury, with last week’s debut revelation Roy George among the five VFL-listed players to lose their spots.

Port Melbourne regains the dashing Anthony Anastasio from a hamstring injury for its clash with Coburg at ETU Stadium on Friday night.

Anastasio hasn’t played since the Round 3 loss to Casey but is ready to return as he closes in on 150 VFL games alongside former Northern Bullants defender Spencer Johnson, who has broken through for his first game at his new club, while former Sydney backman Lachie Rankin is in the concussion protocols.

The Lions made four changes, losing in-form ruckman Cooper Keogh but recalling experienced full back Harry Nolan, while Ingo Dammersmith, Daniel Johnston and season debutant Ben Cameron are also in, with Charlie Beasley among those to be left out.

All matches in the 2024 Smithy’s VFL and VFLW seasons will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App.

Smithy’s VFL broadcast partner, the Seven Network, will broadcast select matches live and free on the Seven Network in Victoria and on 7plus nationally. This week’s broadcast game will be Richmond vs Footscray Bulldogs.
