The AFL are committed to keeping the participation of women & girls a top priority, whether that be as a player, coach, umpire, volunteer, or administrator. The Women’s Football Vision, and the Women & Girls Game Development Action Plan sets out the priorities and initiatives being undertaken in this space.

The AFL Women & Girls Community Football Best Practice documents have been developed to provide clarity and guidance to community leagues and community clubs on best practice for the delivery of community football competitions and their involvement in community football clubs.
These documents replace the previous AFL National Female Community Football Guidelines.

Creating more inclusive environments
The AFL has a range of resources and education to help clubs and leagues create more inclusive environments for women and girls.
The Women & Girls Community Football Charter is a commitment from Community Football Clubs to champion women and girls, guided by four principles: opportunity, visibility, access, and investment. Becoming a signatory of the charter involves completing a checklist and quick wins action plan for your club.
The AFL Gender Equity Education Program supports community football clubs to develop the knowledge and skills to foster safe, equal and respectful environments for all members of your community, particularly women and girls. The program involves a webinar, two face-to-face workshops and the development of an action plan.
Download and print the Safe & Inclusive Use of Umpire Rooms, and Safe & Inclusive Use of Player Rooms posters. Club’s are encouraged to hang these posters in all umpire and players rooms which outlines responsibilities of keeping rooms a safe and inclusive environment for all.
AFL resources and programs that can support Clubs in meeting The Change Our Game Fair Access Principles. The Change Our Game Fair Access Policy is a Victorian Government Policy focused on fostering a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for all participants in community sport.
