Industry Mental Health Strategy
The Strategy provides the foundation for culture and policy reforms that
drive initiatives that increase protective factors for mental health and wellbeing and reduce risk factors for mental ill-health. The Strategy:
- Has a Vision that all our People are supported to thrive in football, work and life.
- Guides Industry action across four key pillars Prevent and Empower: Promote: Respond: Continuously Improve to meet the strategic Vision. Has detailed action plans for People, Players, Coaches, Umpires, and Talent
- Covers the spectrum of promotion, prevention and early intervention.
- Has a renewed focus on supporting mental health and wellbeing through a systems approach.
Football environments can play a pivotal role in enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of their communities. As a signatory of the Mental Fitness Charter, Clubs acknowledge:
- good mental health and wellbeing is a vital individual and community asset
- our mental health is equally as important as our physical health
- their football club has an important role to play in enhancing the mental fitness of our community
When a club pledges their commitment to the charter, they commit to:
- creating and implementing a Mental Fitness Quick Wins Action Plan
- building the mental fitness skills of our members and community
- increasing mental health literacy and challenging stigma
- taking steps to reduce risks to mental health
- promoting a culture of wellbeing
- responding safely to events that have an impact on mental health
