The Western Bulldogs, as one of the 18 clubs of the Australian Football League (AFL) and situated in the fastest growing region of Australia are offering an exciting opportunity to become the club’s Digital Marketing Coordinator. Fan Engagement in the digital world is now one of the most important fan platforms that an AFL club must embrace and this role will be central to the clubs ‘fan centric’ approach. This position is focused on the development and implementation of a Digital Marketing Strategy to drive fan engagement, database acquisition and transactional opportunities across the business.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement the club’s Digital Marketing Strategy
• Monitor Social Media networks; manage the scheduling of posts and respond and communicate with fans directly
• Study current best practice trends in social media to help develop new ideas for the club
• Research new Social Media networks to determine how each fit into the overall Social Media strategy
• Constantly monitoring competitive intelligence around competitors' social activities
• Research, develop and implement new opportunities and strategies across the business
• Work with AFL media team on new innovations that are available for the club’s website (eg You Tube channel, The Nation Social Media platform)
• Analyse Social Media mediums through monitoring tools and provide meaningful analytics regarding community growth and engagement
• Provide monthly analytical feedback across the Commercial team on all campaigns and website traffic numbers
• Work on match days to provide the most insightful fan engagement across all digital platforms to make fans feel like they are part of the game
• Work closely with the Fan Development Manager on best ways to engage fans online and offline
• Develop digital engagement strategies to help grow club’s overall fan base (database acquisition) and turn fans transactional
• Develop e-commerce best practice ideas to drive the club’s merchandise and membership sales online
• Work with Commercial team to develop a yearly rate card which will be used to drive online advertising revenue
• Work closely with the Communications team to develop a robust online content plan and film and edit videos weekly to drive fan content.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Extensive Video making and editing experience (eg Final Cut Pro)
• Qualifications and experience in digital marketing strategy and implementation
• Social Media technical skills preferred
• Understand website backend systems
• Excellent knowledge of digital marketing, latest trends, technology and best practices
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (copy writing for website)
• Understanding of the sports entertainment industry, the AFL and club landscapes
• Demonstrated experience managing people and external contractors
• Excellent organisational skills, time management and the ability work well under pressure on a variety of tasks
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate across all levels of the organisation, while leading and inspiring people to understand the importance of digital marketing
• Passionate and motivated person.
• Ability to work within tight budgets and timelines
• Sound knowledge of relational databases, strong project management skills, ability to problem-solve, excellent attention to detail and highly organised
• Outstanding communication, negotiation and relationship management skills, including the ability to work effectively with key internal and external stakeholders
