It will be lights out for North Melbourne boss Eugene Arocca when he takes part in the 2010 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

Held on the 17th of June, the annual event aims at creating awareness and raising funds important funds for the homeless.

Arocca will join 440 CEO's Australia-wide in support of the cause and will experience homelessness first-hand.

Over 100,000 Australians are homeless, with at least 34,000 of those being children according to official numbers.

“I was not aware of the numbers of homeless people in our country until I became involved with the sleepout. I felt that by participating, it would not only help me understand more about the hardship endured by the homeless, but also increase awareness of their plight," Arocca told kangaroos.com.au.

In a year of rising unemployment and economic uncertainty, many individuals and families have been forced into homelessness.

"No Australian should ever have to endure living without a roof over their head. I urge all North Melbourne supporters to get behind this worthy cause.”
