Embley missed last week's loss to Essendon after copping a ban for kneeing Hawthorn's Ben Stratton a fortnight ago, but Worsfold admitted the 2006 Norm Smith medalist was not guaranteed selection despite the importance of Saturday's clash with Adelaide.
"He's available to play," Worsfold said on Wednesday. "It doesn't mean he'll play, but he's up for selection. We'll have a good look at his role for us.
"He's a very well respected player in the club. But our job is to put the best 22 out to win this game."
Worsfold also revealed that another of his veteran midfielders, Daniel Kerr, is extremely sore following a heavy knock against Hawthorn two weeks ago.
Worsfold suggested Kerr could do with a rest but conceded he may not have that luxury given West Coast's heavy injury toll.
"We've got to weigh that up with selection," Worsfold said.
"We haven't got (Luke) Shuey and (Scott) Selwood available, so how do we structure our midfield and how do we use Daniel to get the best out of him?
"Is it as a sub? There's a lot of things we can look at there."
Sharrod Wellingham will play WAFL reserves this week in his first match since injuring his ankle in round eight against North Melbourne.
Worsfold said Wellingham could be considered for the western derby in round 16.
"We will just see how he pulls up from this weekend," Worsfold said.
Although Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson and Eagles vice-captain Beau Waters have both highlighted the importance of this week's clash given the two sides sit 6-7, two games outside the top eight, Worsfold refused to label the game a do-or-die affair.
"They can't assume a more heightened importance," Worsfold said.
"It is not a Grand Final this week. An important game though.
"As was last week and the previous 11."
"They're obviously in a very similar boat to us in that they haven't really hit consistent form throughout the year.
"They just represent a really good challenge for us to maintain our intensity and see if we can get across the line for the four points rather than just another a good solid effort."
