ESSENDON veteran Dustin Fletcher will have season-ending surgery on his injured finger on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old has been struggling with a finger tendon injury, which he sustained at training three weeks ago.
AFL.com.au understands the surgery is booked for Wednesday. Fletcher was due to meet with leading surgeon Greg Hoy this week to discuss the injury.
The club confirmed the operation late on Tuesday and that it would likely sideline him for the rest of the season.
Fletcher has played 393 games for the Bombers and is yet to announce his plans for 2015 and if he'll play into a 23rd season.
The Bombers said on Tuesday he still planned to sit down with the club when the season was over to discuss his future.
