THE 18 AFL coaches have used their weekly votes to create a Brownlow Medal predictor, with Sydney Swans star Dan Hannebery leading Geelong captain Joel Selwood by a whisker at the halfway point of the season.
The AFL Coaches Association has been "transmogrifying" the coaches' votes this season into a 3-2-1 format, using a formula to separate ties.
The formula throws up a number of changes to the AFLCA player of the year leaderboard – which Hannebery also leads – with Selwood bolting up the rankings and Dustin Martin and Marcus Bontempelli moving into Brownlow Medal contention.

"It's been quite interesting ... the coaches take it very seriously," the AFLCA's Greg Hutchison told AFL.com.au.
"If there's a draw in the votes it goes on a countback to the player who received the higher separate vote or played on the winning team.
"Their votes have to be done by midday Monday, so they have time to reflect on what happened as opposed to just voting straight after the game.
"If they're putting their names to something, they're going to make sure it's correct and accurate."
