NORTH Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson will not be enforcing curfews or banning his players from riskier behaviours following a week of carnage off the field for the Kangaroos.

Club great Jack Ziebell is making a solid recovery from facial surgery after being the victim of an alleged unprovoked attack while at a bar on Sunday morning, just hours after he ended his 280-game career at the MCG.

Star North midfielder Luke Davies-Uniacke will miss a second straight game after suffering a foot injury while surfing last week.

Clarkson stressed the Ziebell incident was a warning to all AFL players ahead of the off-season that "nothing good happens after midnight".

During his legendary four-premiership stint at Hawthorn, Clarkson spoke about the dangers of the 'four Ps' - relating to alcohol, gambling, sex and drugs - getting players into trouble.

"There's part of us that say it was a really unfortunate incident and there's another part of us that say 'geez, he was lucky'," Clarkson said of the Ziebell incident.

"We've taken that line to how lucky he was, it wasn't a more serious injury because it could have been really nasty.

"So a little reminder to guys going into their off seasons, just be careful, boys."

In addressing Davies-Uniacke's injury in the surf, Clarkson empathised with players wanting an outlet away from football.

Clarkson on Thursday revealed he had an extended stay in hospital after suffering a serious accident on his Mornington Peninsula farm.

"It's a release for him (Davies-Uniacke), that's his leisure," Clarkson said.

"This is a really delicate area, how much do you try to impose yourself on people's lives?

"We don't want to be imposing curfews and discipline around when they drink, and how much they drink.

"I've had three serious accidents in the last four years, one which hospitalised me for 10 days.

"If someone was to turn around me to say you can't go to the farm now because you missed 10 days of work then I think they'd get a rude reply."

Two men have been arrested following the alleged assault on Ziebell outside The Osborne Bar in South Yarra.

The men aged 21 and 26 – both from Narre Warren – attended Prahran Police Station on Monday following enquiries from detectives, where they were arrested.

The 21-year-old was charged with affray, intentionally cause injury, and assault by kicking.

He was bailed to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on October 24.
