Young Sun firming for round one debut after promotion off rookie list
GOLD Coast rookie Adam Saad has been rewarded for an impressive NAB Challenge series with promotion to the Suns' senior list ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
The 20-year-old has played all three games for the Suns this pre-season, impressive with his dash off half-back and finishing with 15 possessions against the Brisbane Lions last Friday night.
The rebounding defender, who enjoyed an outstanding season with VFL team Coburg last year, has added clean ball use to the Suns backline and can now push for round one selection.
"Adam's elevation to the senior list will come as no surprise to our players or support staff, having impressed everyone with his attitude to training and preparation since his arrival to the club," football manager Marcus Ashcroft said.
"His fearlessness and willingness to take the game on complemented our counter attack off half-back throughout the NAB Challenge games.
"Adam's continued improvement has added great depth to our backline group, and we look forward to watching him push towards an AFL debut appearance."
Saad averaged 19.5 disposals in 18 VFL games last year and was taken with pick No.25 in the 2015 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
Half-back Greg Broughton, who was squeezed out last year as the Suns were forced to reduce their senior list, has also been promoted.
