Geelong’s All Australian midfielder Cameron Ling will be up against some of Australia’s best sportsmen when he takes strives for the title of Australia’s greatest athlete.
Eight of Australia's biggest sporting heroes go head-to-head in the second series with Billy Slater of the Melbourne Storm the defending champion.
“We’re all competitive people and while it is a bit of fun, everyone wants to do well and win,” Ling said.
“It’s a great opportunity to see athletes from various sports taken out of our comfort zone and competing in different disciplines. It is a great competition and the other guys are all good people that I enjoyed meeting and competing with. I will not give away the result but everyone should watch and I’m sure they will be impressed by what they see.”
Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting will host the series that will run on channel seven from on 6 February.
Ling’s competition will come from Slater, Olympic gold medallist Matthew Mitcham, A-league soccer player Jason Cullina, rugby union’s James O'Connor, Wendell Sailor from rugby league, V8 Superstar legend Craig Lowndes and current world champion ironman Shannon Eckstein.
