AS SWANS fans prepare to farewell Brett Kirk in his final game at the SCG on Saturday night, sydneyswans.com.au takes a look back at some of Kirky's most memorable games across his 12-year career.

Round 19, 1999: North Melbourne 17.9 (111) d Sydney Swans 15.11 (101)
A 22-year-old Kirk made his AFL debut at the SCG against the Kangaroos, who would go on to win their second premiership in four years that season. The Swans trailed by five goals at half time but clawed their way back in the second half to fall 10 points short. Kirk finished with a very handy 19 disposals and a team-high three goals in his first taste of the big time.

Round five, 2003: Sydney Swans 17.7 (109) d Melbourne 13.7 (85)
Kirk's tackling has long been a forte but it was on Anzac Day in 2003 that he announced himself as one of the league's finest exponents. Along with 20 possessions, he produced a whopping 12 tackles out of a team total of 51 as the Swans swamped the Demons with a 10-goal final term. Kirk went on to lead the league in tackles for the first time with a total of 140 for the year.

Qualifying final, 2003: Sydney Swans 15.10 (100) d Port Adelaide 13.10 (88)
In one of the biggest upsets of the season, the Swans defeated minor premier Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium to book a home preliminary final. In a torrid encounter, Kirk ensured the Swans held off the Power's second half-charge with 24 touches and eight tackles. Barry Hall finished with a memorable six goals but Kirk's steadfast display in the midfield was just as influential.

Semi-final, 2005: Sydney Swans 7.14 (56) d Geelong 7.11 (53)
Nick Davis' four-goal final term remains the stuff of legend but Kirk's role in the famous victory over the Cats on a soggy SCG cannot be underestimated. Apart from a game-high 25 possessions, Kirk's stern reminder to Davis after his direct opponent, David Johnson, kicked the first goal of the final term - "you owe us one" was Davis' recollection after the game - was emblematic of the Swans' team-first culture.

Grand final, 2006: West Coast 12.13 (85) d Sydney Swans 12.12 (84)
Same teams, same venue, same prize at stake but a different result as the Swans failed by the narrowest of margins to defend their 2005 premiership crown. But it wasn't for a lack of trying from Kirk, whose 27 possessions and nine tackles were crucial as the Swans mounted a memorable second-half comeback from a 25-point deficit at half time. Widely regarded by Swans fans as his most memorable performance.

Round 14, 2007: Sydney Swans 11.23 (89) d Fremantle 9.7 (61)
On the day when Michael O'Loughlin surpassed John Rantall as the Swans' games record holder, Kirky was fanatical in his determination to see Magic's milestone celebrated with a win. The Swans led by just two point at half time but with Kirk exhorting his teammates to "do it for Mago" at every stoppages, there was no stopping the Bloods. Kirk ended with 24 possessions and three Brownlow votes on a special day for the club.

And it was only fitting that on Thursday evening, O'Loughlin had the last word on who would lead the battle cry for the Swans to "do it for Kirky" against the Bulldogs on Saturday night.

"You won't need to. You'll have 30,000 people saying it. The whole crowd will be going crazy if we're behind [because] he means so much to so many people," he said.
