DYLAN Shiel has resisted the lure of a return home to Victoria to sign a two-year contract extension with Greater Western Sydney.

The 22-year-old's future has been a source of much speculation this season given the form he has been in.

But in a massive coup for the Giants, he will remain at the club until the end of the 2017 season.

"I've made some great mates here at the Giants and this is where I want to play my football," Shiel said on the club's website.

"I believe we're heading in the right direction and are on our way to achieving the ultimate success in the coming years.

"Having been here since the very start, I've seen the club grow both on and off the field and I'm enjoying life in Sydney."

Shiel is averaging a career-high 28.6 disposals a game this season, which ranks him 12th in the League.

Coach Leon Cameron said Shiel's commitment to the club was a significant sign of where the Giants are heading.

"Dylan is one of the most professional players I've come across in my time in the AFL," Cameron said.

"Like many of his teammates, Dylan can see the direction the club is heading and I know our members and supporters will be thrilled Dylan has re-committed."

Shiel, Jeremy Cameron, Jon Patton, Phil Davis, Devon Smith, Toby Greene, Adam Tomlinson and Will Hoskin-Elliott have all re-signed with the Giants in recent months.

Midfielder Adam Treloar is the next key signature for the Giants to secure.
