Young speedster Marlon Motlop has won his second Cibo Glenelg SANFL Player of the Week Award for season 2008.

The younger cousin of Power star Daniel, Marlon showed class which belied his years in a 31 possession performance for North Adelaide’s reserves side on Saturday.

The award is judged by Power development coaches, Daniel Healy and Darren Trevena, and is announced exclusively at PortAdelaideFC.com.au each Monday afternoon.

It was a good round for the Power’s SANFL players, with 11 in action at the weekend. Here is the full wrap…

Cibo Glenelg SANFL Player of the Week
Marlon Motlop (for North reserves v Eagles reserves at Prospect)A good day for Marlon with 31 possessions, 12 marks and a goal. Ran hard all day, clocking up about 14 kilometres. Used the ball really well.

Paul Stewart (for Eagles v North at Prospect)Not a great day for Paul. Played on a wing before he moved back into defense on Nick Gill. Had a couple of goals kicked on him but fought hard all day. Had 15 possessions.

Nick Salter (for Eagles v North at Prospect)Kicked two nice goals and had 15 possessions. Went down back on Alleway for a while and did fairly well. His kicking was certainly a feature, we just need him to get a bit more of the ball.

Adam Cockshell (for Norwood v Central at Norwood)Rucked reasonably well and did some good work in defense working back. Also went up forward and took 8 marks and kicked 2 goals. Not quite as good as previous weeks but he’s still playing well.

Ryan Williams (for Central v Norwood at Norwood)Played on the ball and had a run-with role. He got a little bit caught between the two roles, but still did well with 15 possessions. He sets the benchmark pretty high, and this was probably slightly short of those expectations.

Ryan Willits (for West v Sturt at Richmond)He kicked 3.4 and got to a number of marking contests. Worked hard but probably didn’t get the ball kicked to him often enough.

Fabian Deluca (for Sturt v West at Richmond)Had 12 possessions, 4 marks and 20 hitouts. He was quite good and got a lot of game time. A good game overall.

Mitch Farmer (for Sturt v West at Richmond)Quieter this week with 12 possessions on the wing. Still did some nice things, but not quite up to the standard of his previous games.

Matt Westhoff (for Central reserves v Norwood reserves at Norwood)He kicked 3.2 and chased very well. A good game overall and is getting close to league selection.

Jonathon Giles (for Central reserves v Norwood reserves at Norwood)Rucked well but didn’t have as much of an impact around the ground as he has had. Won 16 hitouts and worked hard.

Daniel Boyle (for Central reserves v Norwood reserves at Norwood)Daniel was good. His kicking was great again. He had 25 possessions and most of them hit the target. He’s still working on a couple of areas of his game but we see him improving each week.
