NORTH Melbourne big man Majak Daw has kept the pressure on the Kangaroos' tall forwards by booting two goals in the first half of VFL affiliate Werribee's practice match against Coburg on Saturday.

Daw was this week officially named as the Kangaroos' nominated rookie, which allows the 25-year-old to play senior games this season. 

The athletic 195cm Roo responded by slotting two majors before he was managed and taken out of the game at half-time, possibly a sign he could be in the mix for the round one clash against Adelaide next Saturday night at Etihad Stadium.

Daw was demoted to the rookie list after a trying 2015, but he's determined to build on his 16-game career after finally completing a full pre-season.

"Time has flown past and going into my seventh season now, I've developed over the years, but I think being 25 now I know what the expectation is and I'm a senior player that's fighting to get a regular game," Daw told NMFC.com.au this week. 

"I'll be doing everything I can this year to be a regular member of our side."

Robin Nahas, also on the rookie list, snared three goals against Coburg while fellow small forward Kayne Turner, Aaron Mullett and Corey Wagner added two each.

Mullett collected 15 touches to three-quarter time and impressed around the stoppages, while Trent Dumont was tireless and hard-running draftee Ryan Clarke had a dozen touches to half-time.

Declan Mountford, Mitchell Hibberd and tagger Ben Jacobs were solitary goalkickers in the 37-point triumph.

First-round draft pick from 2014, Sam Durdin, got through his long-awaited comeback unscathed in his first appearance since last June due to foot and shoulder issues.

Meanwhile, the Kangaroos' former VFL affiliate North Ballarat went down to Footscray by 25 points at the Whitten Oval, with Dogs defender Joel Hamling among his side's best with 14 disposals.

Hamling was the only AFL-listed footballer playing in the practice match.
