YOUNG Western Bulldogs superstar Marcus Bontempelli remains in some doubt for Saturday night's match against Brisbane, needing to pass a fitness test in order to play.
Bontempelli was a late withdrawal from the Bulldogs' win over Gold Coast in Ballarat with hip soreness, which stemmed from his match the week before against Carlton.
"During the main training session last Thursday he wasn't able to hit his high-end speed and agility so we withdrew him from (the game)," Western Bulldogs medical services manager Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au.
"We'll work through a process with him this week, but if he gets through the main training session on Thursday we expect him to be available."
In some good news for the injury-decimated Dogs, veteran defender Dale Morris has been given the all-clear to return to full training after partially tearing his ACL in February.
He didn't require a knee reconstruction, hence the speedy return.
If he passes training requirements, he could even be back to playing before the Bulldogs' bye in round 12.
"He's been involved in a really comprehensive and thorough rehab program where we've focused on strength and control around his knee," Bell said.
"He's ticked all of our boxes so far and we'll come back into full training this week. If he gets through the rest of our tests over the next two weeks and finishes training, he'll come back into playing the [following] week."
Big man Jordan Roughead will also need to get through training this week in order to be considered for the Brisbane clash after suffering hamstring tightness.
He only played the first two rounds of this season after also battling concussion.
Captain Easton Wood remains at least a week away with a hamstring injury.
