ST KILDA will not decide on a replacement for the suspended Justin Koschitzke until after its training session on Thursday.

The Saints flew to Perth on Wednesday in preparation for Saturday's match against West Coast, with the playing group set to be put through its paces in the local conditions on Thursday.

Speaking to saints.com.au, forward Adam Schneider said the team had not been finalised, although fellow tall Michael Gardiner seemed a good fit for Koschitzke, who is serving a one-match ban for striking.

"I guess you'd probably like to have Michael Gardiner in there as another ruckman, or another tall who could go forward as well," Schneider said.

"We'll have to wait and see how everyone trains tomorrow in Perth."

Despite being listed as a test this week, Schneider said utility Xavier Clarke would not be seen at AFL level for at least another two weeks, as the club takes a cautious approach to his hamstring injury.

"Xavier's still a couple of weeks away," Schneider said. "He'll play in the reserves probably next week or the week after. He's still getting his hamstring right to make sure there isn’t another occurrence [of the injury]".

After staging a stunning 10-goal turnaround to defeat the highly-rated Hawks on Saturday, Schneider said St Kilda is still looking for its best form despite 'clicking' as a team over the past month.

"We still believe we've got a lot of improvement to go, especially after the weekend. For us it's all a positive thing, knowing we haven't played at our absolute best yet -- it's a great opportunity for us to build on it this week."
