CARLTON captain Marc Murphy will be sidelined for up to a month after scans revealed damage to the plantar fascia area of his left foot.
Blues' head of football Andrew McKay said scans on Friday evening had uncovered a further tear of the fascia in Murphy's foot.
"Clearly this is a disappointing outcome for Marc and the club," McKay said.
"There was swelling in the area and as such, we had to let it settle before we could assess it properly.
"Scans last night have revealed the tear in the fascia and the surrounding scar tissue.
"He will ease back into the training program and we expect him to be available in three to four weeks."
Murphy returned to action last week against Melbourne after missing five matches with the same issue.
He left the field for part of the first and second quarters for treatment, but returned to play out the game.
