Call for nominations for the 2011 Cheer Squad Committee

In the last week of November, we wrote to tell you about some important changes for the
Cheer Squad for Season 2011.

In that letter we outlined five important changes for the Cheer Squad that we believe will help us grow stronger as a group and set us up for a great season of supporting the boys in their quest for the holy grail. Attached, you will find a booklet titled, St Kilda Cheer Squad Guidelines 2011, where you’ll find details on how we plan to work more closely with the Cheer Squad to make those changes become reality.

Meet Ashleigh Dummett, Cheer Squad Club Liaison.
In order to provide more support and better communication between the Cheer Squad and the Club, we’ve appointed an experienced Membership team member, Ashleigh Dummett, to work more closely with the Cheer Squad. Ashleigh has a lot of great experience and good ideas for next season - you can read about her in the booklet.

St Kilda Cheer Squad Member Charter, Behavioural Standards and AFL Guidelines for Cheer Squads.
With a new season just around the corner, it’s a great time to do a little ‘housekeeping’. Click here to download details of the Cheer Squad Member Charter for 2011. This sets out the procedures the Club will apply in the administration of the Cheer Squad. Please take a few minutes to read it over. Also included is some information designed to make you aware of the responsibilities of everyone who represents the Club, and the standards required by the AFL of all Cheer Squad members. We ask that you read all of these sections, then sign the form on the inside back page of the booklet to show you understand and agree to abide by them all.

Call for nominations for the Cheer Squad Committee.
Nominations for the new Cheer Squad Committee are now open and all fully financial Cheer Squad members, 16 years of age or over at 1 January 2011, are invited to nominate who they think would be a good person to represent them. Please download a nomination form here.

Please complete your Nomination Form with the name and membership number of the person you wish to nominate, or you can nominate yourself. Then have another Cheer Squad member “Second” your nomination so we know that the person you’ve chosen has been endorsed by at least one other member.

If you think you can contribute and make a difference to the Cheer Squad, we encourage you to put your name forward for nomination to the Cheer Squad Committee.

How the Cheer Squad Committee election voting will work

The Cheer Squad election voting will take place in the following way.

  1. After the Call for Nominations has closed on 3 January 2011, the Club will prepare a list of all nominees.
  2. The Cheer Squad Members who receive the most nominations (to a maximum of 10) will enter an election process.
  3. The Club will provide a booklet, by mail and online at saints.com.au, that outlines the name of each person nominated and their brief written submission on why they should be elected to the Cheer Squad Committee. This booklet, along with 1 voting form, will be sent to each financial Cheer Squad member, 16 years or over, by week commencing 10 January 2011.
  4. All Cheer Squad members, 16 years or over, will then be invited to cast their vote and return the voting form to the Club by 28 January 2011.

Details of how the votes will be counted and the winners decided are contained in the Guidelines Booklet.

The election results will be announced by email and on saints.com.au. The winners of the election will be notified by the Club and invited to a meeting at the Linen House Centre at Frankston to kick off Season 2011 on Wednesday 2 February 2011.

If you know of anyone in the Cheer Squad who is away or won’t receive this pack, please ask them to visit saints.com.au to read the Guidelines Booklet and download a Nomination form.

We will also send details to people by email and SMS, but it won’t hurt to let them know personally in case they don’t hear about the election. It’s our hope that everyone who is eligible to vote, can vote.

Good luck to all, have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing you raring to go in Season 2011.

Go Saints.
The Membership Team

PS. In the November letter, we told you that sales of new Cheer Squad Memberships for the 2011 Season had been closed in order to implement these new processes. We are pleased to announce that when the Cheer Squad Committee election has taken place, we will re-open the sale of Cheer Squad memberships in time for the 2011 NAB Cup.
