JARED Polec looks set to wait until deep into the year before making a call on his future as he weighs up interest from Victorian clubs.

The Port Adelaide speedster is out of contract at the end of this season and AFL.com.au understands Polec is in no hurry to settle on his intentions.  

It is believed multiple Melbourne clubs are interested in the former Brisbane Lion, who is enjoying a strong season for the Power.

Port Adelaide has put forward a contract offer to Polec, whose run and carry and pace make him a valuable commodity.

Rival clubs see him as potentially a more attainable target than West Coast's Andrew Gaff but a player in a similar mould to the All Australian wingman.

North Melbourne, St Kilda and Carlton are among the clubs interested in Gaff, who is out of contract but viewed as most likely to stay at the Eagles.

Polec shapes as one of the next best midfielders available on the market if he continues to hold off on a new deal with the Power.

The 25-year-old was taken at pick No.5 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft by the Lions but lasted just three seasons at the club before heading back to South Australia to join Port Adelaide ahead of the 2014 season.

He was part of the Lions' 'go-home five' that season, when alongside Sam Docherty (Carlton), Elliot Yeo (West Coast), Billy Longer (St Kilda) and Patrick Karnezis (Collingwood) he sought a trade in 2013.

Polec is due to play his 100^th AFL game this weekend when the Power meet Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
