GEELONG is closing in on contract extensions for two of its most promising youngsters, Lachie Fogarty and Charlie Constable.
AFL.com.au understands the 2017 draftees are set to recommit for two more seasons in the coming weeks, tying them to the club until the end of 2021.
In a year where 29 players from the 2017 NAB AFL Draft have already debuted, 24 from that crop have already extended beyond their initial two-year contracts.
Fogarty burst onto the scene, debuting for Geelong in round one and has quickly become renowned internally for his manic forward pressure.
After playing the first seven matches, groin soreness has sidelined the 19-year-old for the past fortnight but he is in line to return for the Cats' clash against Carlton on Saturday night.
Constable has been "excruciatingly close" to an AFL debut on a number of occasions according to coach Chris Scott after impressing in the VFL.
The inside midfielder has amassed big numbers and been named as an emergency for the senior team on multiple occasions.
Concussion against Collingwood in the VFL on May 13 sidelined Constable last week.
Meanwhile, fellow boom 2017 draftee Tim Kelly is yet to begin negotiations with the Cats beyond his current deal to the end of 2019.
Playing all nine games to date, it is expected the West Australian will start talks with the club after the round 14 bye.
