ADELAIDE star Rory Sloane has the end of his career on his mind and won't be rushed into a contract extension with the Crows.
The 27-year-old Victorian will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of next year and would be highly sought if he tested his value in the open market, particularly by clubs in his home state.
"I'm not going to put a timeline on this sort of thing," Sloane told Adelaide radio station FIVEaa.
"It's a contract I will have to think long and hard about with (my wife) Belinda.
"Coming to the end of my career, you certainly have to look at what's best for yourself."
Sloane has played 165 games for the Crows since being taken with the 44th pick in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft.
The Crows would be eager to lock their vice-captain into a long-term deal as they aim to go one better than this year's Grand Final loss to Richmond.
But Sloane said he was in no rush to put pen to paper and didn't have to have it done before the start of next season.
"I've got a whole year to go," Sloane said.
"I've never been in a rush before or let media decide when I should get my contract done.
"It's a decision Belinda and I will certainly work through the start of next year.
"I've never been in negotiations any earlier than a year left in my contract, and to do any earlier is probably a bit silly.
"That will certainly work itself out.
"We both love Adelaide and absolutely enjoy our time here."
