Lions midfielder Jared Brennan will miss this Saturday afternoon's clash against Port Adelaide after accepting the one match sanction handed down by the AFL Match Review Panel on Monday.

Brennan was charged with a Level One bumping or making forceful contact from front-on offence against Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer during the first quarter of last Thursday night's Round Two match at the Gabba.

Although he wasn't reported by the field umpires on the night, the Match Review Panel later assessed the incident as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).

This brought a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

His existing bad record of one match suspended within the last three years increased the penalty by 10 per cent to 137.50 points. He also has 82.81 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 220.31 points and a two-match sanction. However, an early plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent to 165.23 points and a one-match sanction.

Brennan and the Lions today accepted the sanction which will keep him out of this weekend's clash with Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
