Ollie Wines, Justin Westhoff among four to re-sign with the Power
PORT Adelaide has re-signed four players - including impressive youngster Ollie Wines and key forward Justin Westhoff - to new deals ahead of the 2014 season.
Wines penned a two-year contract keeping him at Alberton until at least the end of 2016,while Westhoff decided against testing the free agency market and signed until the end of 2017.
At 27, Westhoff said it would be a "dream come true" to finish his career a one-club player.
Wines, who played every game in 2013 as a first-year player, said he was excited to remain with the Power.
“My time at the club has been fantastic so far and I’m really comfortable with where I’m at,” Wines said.
“We’ve got a really good, young group here and it’s very exciting to be a part of it.”
The duo were joined by young defenders Jasper Pittard who signed until the end of 2017 and Cam O'Shea who committed until the end of 2016.
Senior coach Ken Hinkley said the four re-signings were further validation of the club's direction.
“It’s very positive, it shows that they believe in what we’re doing, how we’re going about it and that they want to be a part of it,” Hinkley said.
“The best compliment you can get for a football program when you have people wanting to stay in it.”
Power chairman David Koch announced the re-signings at the club's 2014 season launch at Adelaide Oval.
Koch also announced key personnel would travel to China during the season to discuss the possibility of holding a 2015 pre-season trial game in Macau.
"We're creating a specific strategy for China and our board and key executives will be heading to Hong Kong during the bye round where we will be having Port Adelaide's first international business lunch," Koch said.
"We will be holding discussions and looking at facilities because we have been approached by an Australian in Macau and business interests there to see if we would play a trial game in Macau next year.
