THERE has been an astonishing outpouring of emotion from AFL fans over the death of respected TV and radio broadcaster Clinton Grybas.
Grybas, who would have been 33 next month, died in his Melbourne apartment on Saturday, January 5. His funeral was held at the CityLife Church in Wantirna South at 11am on Tuesday.
The ceremony was a celebration of his life featuring speakers including radio colleague and friend Rex Hunt, his girlfriend Laurenna Toulmin and his brother Ashley.
Football supporters have flooded afl.com.au with tributes to Grybas, universally hailing his passion, professionalism and integrity. Many have written of him as the best broadcaster in the nation, a man with a rare ability to connect warmly with his audiences as well as an unrivalled skill in describing the great Australian game.
His qualities as a host and interviewer have been as highly praised as his ability as a kick-by-kick commentator.
A regular commentator on Fox Sports and 3AW, Grybas was named AFL broadcaster of the year in 2005.
The thoughts of everyone at afl.com.au are with his family and friends at this time.
AFL fans tributes:
Grant Siermans - 7/01/2008 8:26:05 AM
Simply, he was great at what he did.
Sophie - 7/01/2008 8:30:54 AM
What a tragic loss! He was one of my favourites - made it a pleasure to watch Fox Sports. He was easy to like. AFL won't be the same without him. Unfortunately the world we live in is such that the good people are lost far too early.
Nicko - 7/01/2008 8:40:17 AM
Clinton, you were a credit to yourself and to the game. I for one will sorely miss your insight and passion, and my thoughts are with your friends and family whose loss is immeasurable. Godspeed Clinton.
Sam Dickens - 7/01/2008 8:42:24 AM
Clinton is a big loss for AFL on Fox Sports. He is one of the best commentaters and his hosting jobs for the All-Australian Awards and things like that was fantastic. He was so young - he can't be replaced.
Dean - 7/01/2008 8:43:36 AM
As far as I am concerned, Clinton was the by far the best sports broadcaster in this country. Brilliant as a commentator in any sport you can name: basketball, cricket, afl, boxing, swimming.
Young, great smile, easy going and just a natural for television and also for radio.
My condolences to his family, his girlfriend and his close personal friends.
Rest in peace Clinton.
Steven Bradey - 7/01/2008 8:45:16 AM
My respects to Clinton's family and he will be missed by everyone.
wes martin - 7/01/2008 8:57:38 AM
Clint you will be missed by a lot of people. The Thursday night Fox footy show will never be the same. You were not only the best host but as a commentator you were on another level. Thank you for all the good times.
Dougal Austin - 7/01/2008 8:59:06 AM
Clinton was such a great caller of the game and he will be sorely missed by everybody.
I especially will miss you Clinton because you were always going to be the next Dennis Cometti.

You were fantastic Clinton.

alcino madeira - 7/01/2008 9:05:50 AM
What a tragic loss, what a great commentator. As a Fremantle supporter without him calling our games it's never going to be the same
Bundy - 7/01/2008 9:08:21 AM
He gave the impression of a guy who was living his dream, but never took anything for granted. Earned everything that came his way and respected everyone he crossed paths with.
His enthusiasm, passion and knowledge will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Katie Norton - 7/01/2008 9:16:08 AM
Clinton made the football season for me. He was always fair, unbiased and tolerant of others and their views. He was fun to watch and always interesting. He knew what he was talking about. Living in Sydney, Clinton to me was the voice of football. Without Clinton we people in Sydney were left out in the cold, we had no idea what was happening with the AFL.
Clinton will be so sorely missed by me. Watching Clinton on TV was like spending time with a good friend whose company you enjoy. He was different from the other commentators - he understood how we as AFL supporters felt.
Not having Clinton will cast a pall of sadness over the AFL seasons for years to come. Without his presence there will be a feeling of emptiness and great sadness.
My prayers are with his family and friends. A great person has left us. I mourn his passing.
Louie Kebakovski - 7/01/2008 9:29:30 AM
Football will never be the same again. You will be sorely missed.
Ken - 7/01/2008 9:36:41 AM

My condolences to Clinton's entire family who will be very sad at present. God bless all of you. We will all miss the most sincere and knowledgeable media presenter ever seen. There is no doubt in my mind that following AFL will not be the same. Rest in peace.
Leigh Andersen - 7/01/2008 9:46:05 AM
Clinton was by far the best AFL commentator around. Watching AFL on Fox will never be the same again. Lost but never forgotten.
Sam Brain - 7/01/2008 9:46:55 AM
Clinton, you were a great broadcaster. You were my favourite commentator and I loved your saying, 'You bet'. RIP Clinton.
Douglas Stewart - 7/01/2008 9:49:30 AM
Fox Sports lost a lot of appeal for me when it removed Clinton's nightly program. You will always be the best at your profession Clinton.
Jess - 7/01/2008 9:56:33 AM
Clinton, you were a huge credit to AFL on Fox Sports. Your passion, love and comittment to the great game of Aussie Rules will never be forgotten. You brought a great excitement to every game and show you hosted. Clinton you were one of the best commentaters in sport and will be sorley missed.
My prayers are with all who are close to him, his family, girlfriend and friends.
Rest in peace Clinton.
Brett - 7/01/2008 10:07:14 AM
Clinton was a gun. He was my favourite footy comentator and was great for the game. He will be missed heaps. He died way to early and it is a tragic loss but we all thank him for what he has done in the game while he was here! Thanks Clinton.
Scott - 7/01/2008 10:20:11 AM
Easily the best caller in the land and made Fox and AW broadcasts of AFL the most pleasurable to watch and listen to. Commiserations to his family and friends. We will miss you 'Young Man".
Naomi - 7/01/2008 10:30:23 AM
So sad. What a tragic loss to his partner and family, we will miss your great talent and your spunky smile.
RIP Clinton
Luke Nayna - 7/01/2008 10:31:08 AM
Having followed AFL for only a few years, Grybas assisted greatly in the explanation of the game. The manner in which he communicated the progress of a match was with unmatched pure enthusiasm for football. He will be missed.
john S - 7/01/2008 10:32:24 AM
Gone but not forgotten. RIP Clinton. Condolences to his family and girlfriend.
CoopA - 7/01/2008 10:32:42 AM
Clinton, you're an absoulute champion. There is no way else to put it ... I'm only 16 and you showed me the ways to football and you will always be in my memory. My thoughts are out to his family and friends. R.I.P Clinton.
Mark Preston - 7/01/2008 10:37:58 AM
Clinton was far and away the best all-round sports commentator in the business and my family will miss him very much.
Following our move to Queensland, Clinton has kept us in tune with our beloved game and somehow 'seemed like a friend'.
Our condolences to his girlfried, family and friends.
Rest in peace Clinton, good calling and God bless.
Mark Roberts - 7/01/2008 10:38:49 AM
Clinton, One word for you:
Brilliant!
R.I.P mate.
Jason - 7/01/2008 10:46:22 AM
When a talent like this from any area, whether it is sport or even blue collar, it is sad to hear about something like this. My condolences to his family, immediate and extended.
Huss - 7/01/2008 10:50:13 AM
Buddy you will be missed. I enjoyed listening to you alongside Rex. Footy wont be the same on radio. May you R.I.P Clinno.
Joel Smith - 7/01/2008 10:50:50 AM
Clinton was one of my inspirations! I loved listening to him on 3AW every Saturday afternoon, calling the great game that is AFL! Hopefully I will be able to become a journalist just like Clinton. He will be dearly missed.
Steven Rypp - 7/01/2008 10:54:37 AM
Clinton you will be sorely missed. I will miss hearing your fantastic football commentary! Thanks for being such an honest and fair person in the media and the football world needs more people like yourself!
Aaron - 7/01/2008 11:02:10 AM
We will miss you.
Natalie - 7/01/2008 11:02:38 AM
Although I've never met nor spoken to Clinton when I found out the news, I felt devasted. For the last few years he has always been in our living room - I loved his work on White Line Fever and all his commentary especially on Fox Sports. My thoughts are with his family, girlfriend and friends.
Ryan - 7/01/2008 11:06:13 AM
My heart goes out to the Grybas family and also to football fans all around Australia, not only have you lost a son, we the people of australia have lost one of the best presenters I think football has ever seen. He might not have reached the hights for which he was intended, but we will always remember how good he was, and we will miss him every centre bounce, every goal and every game we are now forced to watch without him. I dont think anyone will be able to fill his shoes, he truely was the real "Mr. Football"
Edge family - 7/01/2008 11:09:57 AM
An individual who excelled at his chosen career. It was a pleasure to listen to your informative calls and always the professional. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy to Clints family, his partner and his colleagues. Rest in peace mate.
Jennie Kirsteuer - 7/01/2008 11:16:01 AM
Clinton was a young man whom will be missed by many. There is no greater tribute to a person than to know that so many considered him a friend. I, as so many others did, welcomed him into my home via the media and greatly enjoyed his talents and good humour. My sympathy to his family and many close friends. May your wonderful memories comfort in the dark days.
TheoN - 7/01/2008 11:17:22 AM
Great caller of sport. It's a shame to see such a talented individual pass away at such a young age. Huge loss to the sporting community and more importantly to his family. RIP Clinton.
Joe Serratore - 7/01/2008 11:22:16 AM
An absolute tragedy ... So young and quite brillant will be sorely missed and cannot be replaced.
Dane McLennan - 7/01/2008 11:22:20 AM
Only the good die young and Clinton you were the best in the business. R.I.P mate.
Deano - 7/01/2008 11:24:31 AM
Clinton was a fantastic sports professional. A sad loss for us all.
Steve Lawrence and family - 7/01/2008 11:32:55 AM
RIP Clinton. Our condolences to his family. Great broadcaster in all areas of sport.
katherine Patterson - 7/01/2008 11:36:59 AM
Clinton will be missed by everyone. Doesn't matter if they knew personally or you didn't. It is a great sporting loss. He was a great caller doesn't matter what sport it was, but he made the watching of whatever sport he called a great joy to watch. There could never be any one who could fill his shoes. He was a great credit to Australian sport.
Rest in peace Clinton and we will all miss you.
James Considine - 7/01/2008 11:39:12 AM
The AFL has suffered a huge loss. What could have been in the future.
gally - 7/01/2008 11:53:59 AM
A legend - loved him as a commentator who did so much for the game.
Fox Footy wouldn't have been the same without him and now football in general won't be the same.
He's in my top two commentators. He will be missed.
RIP buddy.
Jimm22 - 7/01/2008 11:54:05 AM
Always done his job right. Great caller of the game ... tragic loss ... R.I.P Clinton ... You are a great inspiration.
Shane Cutting - 7/01/2008 11:58:47 AM
What an absolute tragedy - he was the best commentator of AFL and very good at his craft. The game will be poorer without Clinton and I will sorely miss his knowledge and professionalism. My sympathy goes out to his family. At such a young age already a legend. Rest in peace
Mathew Etchells - 7/01/2008 12:01:15 PM
To say he was the best commentator/media personality in the game would be the biggest understatement of the year. Clinton is going to be sadly missed by all and condolences go out to his family, girlfriend and everyone that was directly or indirectly affected by Clinton.
A great man with a great sense of humour, the knowledge that you provided me within a couple of emails was something I'll never forget. Thanks Clinton for providing the best outlook on football and any sport.
Jo Scanlon - 7/01/2008 12:03:30 PM
It matters not how long you live, but how well you live. If you live well and die at an early age you may have made a greater contribution than many who will live to be 80. Vale Clinton, the race well run.
alistair - 7/01/2008 12:03:38 PM
Clinton reigned supreme. He was witty and humorous on his outstanding program White Line Fever, he controlled all the rowdiness and egos of his special guests but at the same time understood and respected their opinions and views. He was a true sports fan with an amazing talent to connect with his audience. Rest in Peace Clinton, forever in our hearts and minds.
M - 7/01/2008 12:10:07 PM
I still remember when I first took an interest in footy, Clinton was starting on the ABC VFL games, and I remember telling family and friends what a great commentator he is and how far he will go.
What he has achieved in life is something he has earned through his appeal and dedication to calling the sport as accurate as anyone.
Absolute tragedy and loss are the only words that come to mind, he will be sorely missed. RIP Clinton.
Katherine Wild - 7/01/2008 12:13:07 PM
I am sorry to hear that Clinton passed away I cried.
Barry Cruickshanks - 7/01/2008 12:20:44 PM
Clinton will be sadly missed by all football followers. A sad day for all. I wish his family and friends all the best at this difficult time. It's a shame that the good people in this world are taken from us way to early.
jeff - 7/01/2008 12:40:59 PM
He was a very nice and generous person and this was evident in his work as a broadcaster. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this very hard and sad time.
lucas - 7/01/2008 12:42:45 PM
Was a pleasure to listen to and was a fair commentator.
Shane - 7/01/2008 12:45:05 PM
One of the greats of sports broadcasting. In many ways, Clinton was the voice of the fans, his passion and dedication to the game will be sorely missed. Thank you Clinton. RIP.
Antonio - 7/01/2008 12:47:44 PM
I remember when Mr. Grybas called NBL games on ABC then he evolved into a once-in-a-generation sports caller: Mundine v Green fight, AFL Grand Finals on 3AW. Be proud and celebrate his contribution to Australian sports broadcasting, His excitement and passion for local sports will be missed.
Adrian - 7/01/2008 12:59:52 PM
This guy was the reason I tuned into 3AW for footy coverage, the way he went about calling a game of footy was on par with the best veteran callers in the land, a true gentleman of society lost, rest in peace Mr Grybas.
Grevillia - 7/01/2008 1:07:43 PM
A great commentator who will be sadly missed in the seasons ahead.
Sincere condolences to Clinton's family & friends who I am certain must be feeling devastated.
Rest easy, Clinton.
Alan Tomkins - 7/01/2008 1:21:10 PM
He was one of the better commentators, even in his short time as one. The AFL community is poorer for his death...
..::jP::..gOpiEs'08 - 7/01/2008 1:25:57 PM
In the top 5 callers of the last 7 years! Great voice, great guy! (R.I.P Clinton Grybas)
Cam - 7/01/2008 1:27:24 PM
I am now in my mid-30's and all the highly respected sports journalists and commentators were over 40. Clinton Grybas was the "next big thing" in sports journalism. Even when he had the "doyens" of sport sitting with him as a panel of experts, his knowledge and opinions earned him the respect of all watchers and listeners. This is a true tragedy, as his potential will never be revealed.
carmel partridge - 7/01/2008 1:36:36 PM
I'm devastated with the sudden loss of Clinton Grybas this week. What a beautiful man now gone but not forgotten. Thanks from a Cats fan for your contribution to sport. Sympathy to his family.
Will Thomson - 7/01/2008 1:52:14 PM
Fantastic bloke and a very sad loss, had the pleasure of meeting him on work placement and know how highly valued he was was at 3AW. Will be sorely missed.
Jason Brown - 7/01/2008 2:00:49 PM
He was the best. This year will not be the same with out the great man. Your memory will live in our hearts forever.
My respects go out to his family at this time and he will be a man missed by many.
Steve G - 7/01/2008 2:16:42 PM
Clinton Grybas was my favourite commentator. I never missed a game on radio. He was simply the best and we will all miss him.
My deepest sympathy to his family, girlfriend and friends.
R.I.P Clinton
Andrew - 7/01/2008 2:27:09 PM
A sharp minded professional who had a flair for the game and his commentary will be missed
Dean - 7/01/2008 2:30:01 PM
You were one of my favourite commentators, every sunday twilight match on fox sports i watched eager to listen to your flawless commentary, even the worst of matches were entertaining thanks to you. Every time i turn on the tv for a fox sports twilight fixture i will remember you.......
Bobby - 7/01/2008 2:42:51 PM
Clinton is to my mind no doubt the best commentator in the land and maybe even the world. I loved listening to him. i always loved sitting down on the lounge around 5 pm and watching white line fever 5 times a week. That show was unbelievable and would be totally different without him.
But the memory that sticks in my mind was when he said Daniel Wells will get a speeding fine for going that fast.
R.I.P Clinton (you are the man)
Anthony Overall - 7/01/2008 3:32:35 PM
Such a loss to footy. His impact on Foxtel should not be underestimated. Can you ever imagine anyone else hosting White Line Fever. Not me, that's for sure. My thoughts are with his friends and family, you should all be very proud.
Keano - 7/01/2008 3:34:08 PM
Clinton was an awsome commentator and I think everyone was exited when Clinton called the game. Also his work on Joker Poker was the only reason I watched the show. After finding out that he turned down a deal with ESPN, the giants of sports, I knew he was totally commited to Australian rules. Thanks for all the good times.
David Costelloe - 7/01/2008 3:42:23 PM
I am still coming to terms with the sudden passing of clinton. My thoughts are with his family as it seems totally unfair that a person of his natural ability is taken from everyone at such a tender age. I have been a great admirer of him through viewing Fox Footy over the years and it will be extremly hard for anyone to replace him.
jeff melsom - 7/01/2008 3:52:21 PM
I could listen to his football calls all day. A very gifted commentator and a person that was not biased in any way. What a terrible loss to the world of sport and a even greater loss to his family.
Lachie - 7/01/2008 4:07:18 PM
Clinton was not only the best commentator in the land, but he by far and away the best broadcaster this country has ever seen. But perhaps what I will miss most is his positive attitude and humble ways in an industry full of big egos. You work will never be forgotten. Rest in peace mate.
Ebony - 7/01/2008 4:16:24 PM
I'm only 14 but to me he made football fun to watch. My family and me thank him for everything he's done.
Hopefully he makes heaven fun too :). RIP.
Michael - 7/01/2008 4:27:58 PM
He will be remembered for a long time for some brilliant commentary work, especially for his commentary of the Aussie women winning the waterpolo over the USA at the Sydney Olympics.
Lisa - 7/01/2008 4:32:35 PM
It's hard to describe how you feel when you hear the news that one of Australias finest AFL/sport broadcasters and a real advocate for the game has passed away.
It really took me back and I really hope that everyone who reads this holds a loved one a little tighter tonight.
Thanks for the memories Clinton. My thoughts are with your family and friends during this difficult time.
Adi - 7/01/2008 4:37:00 PM
A tragic loss for the AFL community, he will be missed. My most favourite memory was when he was commentating the North Melbourne vs Fremantle game at Subiaco: "Jackie Chan in mid air". RIP Clinton.
Danny Roeby - 7/01/2008 4:45:38 PM
A tragic loss to a magnificent person. The Rising Star award should be named after him.
Christian - 7/01/2008 5:05:05 PM
Clinton Grybas was one of the best sports broadcasters I have ever seen. I am following in his footsteps, I want to became a sports broadcaster just like he was. I decided instead of doing that just for me I am going to do it for my favorite broadcater in the land: Clinton Grybas.
I'll miss you Clinton Gyrbas.
Simon Forrest - 7/01/2008 5:05:55 PM
Without doubt Clinton was the best young all-round commentator in this country. A true professional, Clinton rarely (almost never) made errors, he knew so many facts and figures, he never judged others, he always put his ego aside, he was a team player, a warm friendly man, always nailed the big moments with a great comment. Perhaps he was the next Bruce Macavaney (or better!) ... an extrordinary talent that will be sorely missed by all sports fans and players.
Denise & Don - 7/01/2008 5:12:14 PM
We thought White Line Fever was the best show on Fox and all due to Clinton. It is still hard to believe. He was an outstanding AFL commentator without bias. We will miss you, Clinton and our thoughts and prayers are with your family, colleagues, partner and loved ones. RIP.
Matt Rocke - 7/01/2008 5:19:10 PM
Broadcasting can be a ephemeral art. As a broadcaster you can put your heart and soul into
it, but never truly know how your work affects others, whether the preparation and attention to detail are truly appreciated. To be great and remembered you must genuinely trust, respect and love your audience in order to deliver time and time again. Your character, warmth and energy must be given unreservedly.
Clinton Grybas was such a broadcaster. His service to broadcasting is and footy is impeccable. One could only marvel the tightness of his introductions, his ability to bring a game into context, the great interviews he conducted; his sense of occasion, gravity and overwhelming good humour. Clinton was the true professional. Thanks Clinton for sharing those wonderful talents with us.
Matthew Jones - 7/01/2008 5:28:32 PM
As an aspiring journalist myself, Clinton Grybas provided me with immense inspiration in all his media work. I could only imagine him being in his element yesterday as Australia managed a miraculous victory over India in the second test at the SCG.
Although I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, I felt as though I knew him well. His calls for Foxtel, ABC and 3AW were all of the highest quality and the media industry in Australia is poorer without him.
I hope his contribution to sport and the media in Australia is remembered for generations to come.
Jan Williams - 7/01/2008 5:29:13 PM
Clinton was a gentleman and did more for footy enthusiasm in Queensland than anyone. He will be sadly missed. We have lost a good one.
Cameron Gatt - 7/01/2008 5:50:59 PM
Some people said he was going to be the next Dennis Commetti but he was better than
him. I'm only 13 and Clinton was a real inspiration
to me. What a terrible loss.
Tom Breckenridge - 7/01/2008 6:42:09 PM
I will be one of the thousands who will miss you Clinton, you were one of the best sports commentators, particularly with the AFL. My memories of your talents will never fade. God bless your family.
Ryan Lowth - 7/01/2008 6:45:22 PM
What a shame. I'm a wannabe commentator and I always wanted to sound like Clinton did. If I ever make it to commentating then it will be because of him. We will miss ya mate. RIP Clinton Grybas 1975-2008.
Rizzo - 7/01/2008 6:56:44 PM
Clinton you were fast becoming the most respected and superior commentator and will be missed by all AFL supporters. Condolences to the Grybas family.
John Drohomirecki - 7/01/2008 6:57:23 PM
As a young man aspiring to one day call AFL football, I always looked up to Clinton Grybas as a hero of sorts. An idol for me and a person I hope to one day be like. I looked up to him and enjoyed his coverage and presenting simply because he was the best.
At such a young age, Clinton had such a way that was warming, interesting and entertaining. You could see he loved doing what he did which made whatever show he was doing so entertaining. I always made sure to tune into all AFL awards he was hosting, White Line Fever, AFL Sunday and 3AW programming.
It is such a sad time for me and everyone who looked up to Clinton and loved his work and passion. He will be truly missed by all his fans, family and friends. I wish them all the best and hope Clinton continues to keep watching wherever he may be now!
Andrew - 7/01/2008 7:16:21 PM
You were one of a kind and could literally call it all.
Simply irreplaceable.
Rest in peace Clinton.
Saxon Dswonitzky - 7/01/2008 8:19:44 PM
My very favourite commentator!!!! I was absolutely devastated when White Line Fever was taken off air, and was hoping it would one day make a come back. Now I don't think it ever could.
You were an absolute superstar, Clinton, and I'll miss your broadcasting immensely!
RIP.
Don and Jan Graham - 7/01/2008 8:59:14 PM
Clinton Grybas provided to the sports loving fraternity one of the most professional and un-biased opinions on sports of varying fields, he will be sadly missed. A professional, a gentleman and above all a terrific Australian we should all be proud of. Thanks Clinton and our sincere sympathy to all of his family and work collegues.
Kings_Gal10 - 7/01/2008 9:55:04 PM
I'm actually a baskteball fan rather than AFL fan but he did a lot for the NBL as well as the AFL. He was a joy to watch. Very down to earth and friendly type of guy. I have so many memories of him hosting the NBL show on ABC like the time he had the giggles and just couldnt stop lol! Clinton, you will be sorely missed. :(
Craig Smith - 7/01/2008 10:12:17 PM
Clinton was brilliant at what he did. His enthusiasm and energy on the screen really showed and kept viewers intrigued and interested in everything he had to say. You knew by watching him that he was a fun and professional guy. His football commentary was as good as I have heard I am sure that if he was still with us that he would have been known as one of the best broadcasters of all time by the end of his career. This man cannot be replaced. This is such a sad time for all sporting followers. Condolences to the Grybas family and may he Rest in Peace.
Matthew Wells - 7/01/2008 10:18:40 PM
It will take a long time for the shock of Clinton's passing to subside. The football, and sporting world in general for that matter is worse of without. He followed and called sport with such enthusiasm you could get excited by any sport when he was calling. Clinton Grybas, there is not one sports fan who does not feel an emptyness now you're no longer with us. Rest In Peace. Best of wishes to your beloved family and friends.
Brendan Deshon - 7/01/2008 10:25:59 PM
Clinton Grybas for AFL Fans north of the Murray where we live when my wife and I watch him on White Line Fever or any other AFL show he did on Fox Sports he made us feel like we were in Melbourne. Clinton was passionate about sport but in AFL circles he was one of the very best.
To his family and his girlfriend sorry for your lost. In AFL broadcasting we have lost someone far too soon and we will never know where his career was heading.
A sad day for all AFL fans. Rest in Peace Clinton. Thank you for giving us footy fans great memories.

We are sadden by the news. Clinton was Mr Football. Everything you needed to know about football Clinton would give it to you one any of his many show. I never forget the night I waited on hold for two hours just to ask him a question on Talking Footy. He will be missed by many. football calling will not be the same this year.
Thanks Clinton. Our thoughts go out to his family, may God watch over you all. Thanks for sharing a wonder person with us all.

I have never been so emotionally affected by the passing of a public figure. I have been in tears each day since hearing the tragic news on Saturday, so goodness knows how Clinton's family, girlfriend, personal friends and acquaintances are coping.
My thoughts and best wishes are with you all.
I watched White Line Fever every night. It was compulsory viewing for me.
Clinton was just brilliant in the way he interacted with regular panelists, guests and the viewing audience.
His warmth as a beautiful human being who genuinely cares about others shone through.
I can see Clinton now. I can see his smile. I can hear his voice. I can hear his laugh.
To Clinton's parents, you should be oh so proud of your beautiful boy and of how he has given so, so much pleasure in his life to so many people.
Rest in peace, Clinton.

One of my best memories of clinton would be on White Line Fever in 2006 when he had Parkin, Lloyd and Pickering on the show. and towards the end Clinton couldn't go on and close the show because he was in tears of laughter. You were the best mate, on Fox Footy Sports and on 3AW. You will be missed by the whole football world.
Rest in peace Clinton.

I absolutely loved Clinton. He made footy matches that much more interesting. He knew every single stat about the game and called the game with such enthusiasm.
My sister was too scared to break the news to me because everyone knows how much i loved clinton from his days at WLF.
Mate you where the best
RIP :(

An amazing sports commentator who had everyone on the edge of their seats no matter what the sport or how one sided the match was. A true professional who everyone liked. I remember racing home from work to watch White Line Fever on the Fox Footy Channel with my Dad as we tuned in religiously each weeknight to see Clinton host with such enthusiasm and always looked like he enjoyed himself immensely. My condolences and thoughts go out to his family, girlfriend and his many many friends. Forever in our memories ... we'll miss ya mate.
Rex - 8/01/2008 12:02:14 AM
As Tina Turner would say Clinton - You were simply the best.
Josh Aspinall - 8/01/2008 12:05:23 AM
He was without doubt the best commentator in the game. Always insightful, passionate and unbiased. I great loss not only for the AFL, but for Australian sport.
Simon - 8/01/2008 12:05:49 AM
Clinton was one of the greatest media contributors to football, the face of footy in the media in essence - had taken over the mantle from Bruce and Dennis and had so many years in front of him. The AFL has lost one of the best commentators and people of the game. Football will go on but Clinton will not be forgotten.
Joseph Nowak - 8/01/2008 12:22:00 AM
Clinton, I admired your manner, professionalism and enthusiasm. Your football commentary was always entertaining, but never over the top. I remember how disappointed I was when White Line Fever was axed, as the program provivded pleasurable viewing - it was probably one of the best sport shows I have seen. My favourite part of the show was when you said "After the break we will take your calls." RIP.

I always looked forward to watching AFL on Fox Sports, simply because Clinton was calling the games. He did an outstanding job, with an enthusiastic and joyous approach. He will always be remembered for being the best at what he did.
Heartfelt condolences to his family. Rest in peace Clinton.

Whether Clinton was hosting White Line Fever every week night, or covering a live match on Fox Footy, his enthusiasum will always be what I remember the most. If there was a match between two struggling sides, Clinton would still get genuinley excited ... while some of us would winge about what a shocker it was shaping up to be. He clearly LOVED his job, and just seemed to LOVE talking all-things-football all the time!
Watching footy on Fox Sports will never be the same again, a tragic loss.
Adrian Case - 8/01/2008 5:47:37 AM
So sad....the sporting world has lost the next biggest thing. You don't have to play to be the best, Clinton proved this. RIP.
Brett Thomas - 8/01/2008 8:16:10 AM
He was and still is an inspiration for me. To see what he achieved in broadcasting at such a young age has helped me believe I can achieve my own goals in sports broadcasting. He will be sorely missed
Jason - 8/01/2008 9:03:18 AM
Clinton, I liked you from the first time i saw you on television, you were just that sort of bloke. You will be greatly missed.
Greg Bernie - Warrandyte High School - 8/01/2008 9:05:37 AM
I was absoutely shocked when I heard the news of the passing of Clinton. I met Clinton at School at Warrandyte High School and what a neat kid he was, I was friends with his brother Ashley. His passion for sports commentating and jounalism was amazing. He was always doing reports at school for our local sports and school sports and he had the gift of the gab then.
Clinton was brilliant at what he did and always had a smile. His enthusiasm and energy on the screen really showed and kept viewers on their toes. He was a fun and professional guy. His football commentary was as good as I have heard and his collegues will miss him. This man cannot be replaced. This is such a sad time for all sporting followers that watch this amazing guy. My sympathy goes to all the Grybas family and Laurenna.
Shane Bryant - 8/01/2008 9:16:21 AM
A great intellectual commentator who seemed to make it look easier than it really was. Had wonderful presentation skills that made him show what he really was. A truly brilliant person now, sadly missed.
Travis Bray - 8/01/2008 9:23:51 AM
Very sad news indeed. Only knew of him once he kicked off Fox Footy and he held the channel up by himself. He will be sorely missed in the world of AFL.
Grant - 8/01/2008 9:25:58 AM
The world is a poorer place with the passing of Clinton. His professional manner and knowledge of sport made viewing programs where he was involved all that much more enjoyable. For someone so young and talented to be taken from us is a tragedy. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Jim Marelas - 8/01/2008 10:09:07 AM
To the Grybas family, my deepest condolences. My thoughts are with you all, Clinton was a lovable character even back when we were at Warrandyte High together and was stepping up to be the number 1 man in football. R.I.P mate. Jimmy Marelas
Darren - 8/01/2008 10:36:39 AM
Football won't be the same without hearing Clinton call it. Without a doubt he would have if not already become the greatest caller of our fantastic game. Harry Beitzel was good, Big Rex is funny and Dennis Cometti creative. But Clinton was the most knowledgeable. His passion and non biased views came through the air waves like no other. He was someone I will have pleasure in telling my kids and grandkids that I used to hear him call the mighty Saints!
L.A.Alford - 8/01/2008 10:52:18 AM
I was never so shocked at reading of a death in my life ..such a zest for living ..such enthusiasm in his work ..and such a healthy young man ..Why I said ..God you must have needed a football caller real bad Vale Clinton Grybas
Paul - 8/01/2008 12:07:06 PM
I worked with Clinton in his "early" years at Subiaco Oval. Always polite and friendly even later with Fox still said hello when broadcasting from Subi. Great guy!
My condolences to his family, girlfriend and friends.
See you soon buddy!

This msg sent from London. Very saddened to hear the tragic loss of such a likable fellow. It was alongside Rex on 3AW when i first heard Clinton, and instantly he became a favourite. Such a shame, such a shock.
Michael Moss - 8/01/2008 12:57:18 PM
The best show for all footy lovers was White Line Fever, the best at hosting it was Clinton Grybas, a show and a person to be lovingly remembered and terribly missed by all. Greatness is a word often misused, but sometimes it can be applied to a person at a young age, and for Clinton, I am happy to apply the word to him. He was great in many of the ways we like our sports stars and heroes to be. This young man will be missed by so many and in many ways to bring happiness to sports lovers in this country.
Trevor - 8/01/2008 1:01:34 PM
First Matt Price now Clinton Grybas. Football journalism is so much the poorer by losing two such talented, professional and passionate individuals whose focus was the game itself and not those who present or write about it
Jamie Norton - 8/01/2008 1:34:22 PM
his enthusiasm for the sport renewed my passion for the game, a brilliant man, thanks for everything
Dean Gorddard - 8/01/2008 3:34:35 PM
Shocked to hear the sad news. As a new fan to AFL, I enjoyed Clinton's coverage of the game on Fox Sports and admired his broadcasting skills. He just seemed a level headed guy who represented the game so well.
Jenny Schumann - 8/01/2008 3:40:17 PM
The news of Clinton Grybas' death is something I still cannot get my head around. I attended Warrandyte High with his brother and although I never got to meet Clinton personally, I followed his career from the ABC, up to the big time, on Fox Footy and 3AW. As AFL became the dominant force in our household, Clinton became the staple. He was flawless, professional, and committed, and you only had to listen to him for a few minutes to tell how dedicated a commentator he was. I faithfully tuned into his Friday afternoon report with on 3AW when picking up my children from school... I will miss this dreadfully.
I would like to extend my sympathies to the Grybas family at this time and to Laurenna. I cannot begin to fathom the pain that all of you must be going through but I hope that you take comfort in the fact that Clinton was an outstanding professional who did what some of us can only dream of doing in our lifetimes. I have a 10 year old son who aspires to be an AFL player and Clintons example of determination and hard work is something I hope my son can take inspiration from.
Sincere sympathies and good wishes to you all.

Passion. Fairness. Commitment. Integrity. Professionalism.
Clinton Grybas was at the top of his game, week in week out. It wasn't about ego for him. It was about delivering the game to people. We'll never forget that. Deepest condolences to his loved ones. Rest in peace Clinton.
