Senior Saints such as Nick Dal Santo, Leigh Montagna and Sam Fisher have been widely linked with opposition clubs ahead of the Gillette Trade and Free Agency Period, which begins on Friday.
AFL.com.au understands Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt spoke with the club from the United States about concerns the club was looking to trade a host of senior players.

Pelchen acknowledged on Wednesday St Kilda was looking to rebuild through youth but said he had been surprised by rumours of an impending list shake-up.
"I've been on the phone to Nick Riewoldt this morning. He's over in the States with his wife and he certainly understands that the club is in a perfect position going forward," Pelchen said.
"We are rebuilding predominantly with younger players, but the talk about those senior players leaving our club en masse would be totally incorrect."
Pelchen said there was "no chance" of Riewoldt leaving, while he was also hopeful Montagna and Dal Santo would stay.
"We've had conversations with 'Joey' (Montagna) just in the last 24 hours and there's no indication from Joey that he wants to leave our club at all," he said.
"He's still contracted for next year and I'm not quite sure where that rumour started to be honest."

Dal Santo was taken off the AFL's official free agency list on Monday after satisfying the terms of a contract clause guaranteeing him a spot at the Saints in 2014.
Although North Melbourne and Essendon have spoken with the three-time All Australian, Pelchen said there was "every likelihood" Dal Santo would remain at St Kilda in 2014.
