Geelong skipper Tom Harley has been named as the AFL’s best captain at the annual AFL player’s association awards.
Harley, in his second season as Cats’ captain, has led the team to 22 wins this year and was named among the 40 finalists for the All Australian team to be named next week.
Harley received 141 votes to win from Chris Judd (103), Brett Kirk (80), Jonathan Brown (57) and Adam Simpson (40).
Harley was fourth in best captain voting last season and the premiership skipper from 2007 was the obvious choice among players this year.
Players from all AFL clubs vote for the AFLPA awards, with the proviso that players can not vote for team mates.
