HAWTHORN skipper Luke Hodge trained on Tuesday, dispelling fears over a hamstring injury.
Hodge sat out the last 15 minutes against Richmond on Sunday after appearing to hurt his hamstring, but is now expected to play against Carlton at Aurora Stadium on Saturday.
"The game was sort of in our control and 'Hodgey' has played the last four weeks and we just wanted to make sure he got through the game," Hawks football manager Chris Fagan told the club's website.
"He's out there training today so that was the right call at the time. We do that from time to time with some of our older players."
Premiership forward Ryan Schoenmakers appears to have finally overcome the mystery groin complaint that has kept him out since round four and Fagan indicated he could be back playing at VFL level in a fortnight.
"He's stepped up training and his body has responded well," he said.
In further good news for the reigning premiers, forward/ruckman Jack Fitzpatrick has been cleared to play this weekend after a lingering bout of concussion, while 2015 first round selection Ryan Burton will also resume in the VFL on the weekend.
Burton played two games for Box Hill earlier this year and excited the Hawks with what he displayed, before having surgery to have a pin removed from his leg, a carryover from the badly broken leg he suffered in late 2014 playing in the SANFL.
Midfielder Liam Shiels is back running and is a chance to resume next week, but a return in round 21 against North Melbourne is more likely.
