BRENDON Goddard is carrying a fractured finger, but the star Bomber is unlikely to miss any games with the injury.

The 28-year-old picked up the injury about three weeks ago, and while the hairline fracture in his finger will continue to be managed, the club expects it won't force him out of Essendon's line-up.

Bombers football operations manager Steve Alessio said Goddard had not been impacted by the fracture.

"He's actually played with it the last couple of weeks and it hasn't affected the way he's gone about his footy and we wouldn't expect it to," Alessio told AFL.com.au.

"He hasn't missed any of his training or games, so for him it's not a big issue."

Goddard has played every game for the Bombers this year since crossing to the club from St Kilda, and averaged 26 disposals an outing after spending more time in the midfield.

While Goddard is likely to be fine to face Collingwood on Sunday, skipper Jobe Watson's return from a broken collarbone is yet to be confirmed.

Watson trained fully last week and will step up his intensity again this week, before a meeting with his surgeon Greg Hoy to discuss when he can resume.

"He's got to see his surgeon throughout the week and get an indication of how close he is to returning to football," Alessio said.

"Until he has that meeting with the surgeon later this week, Jobe's no certainty to play.

"His surgeon needs to see how he's travelling and we'd expect within the next two to three weeks, depending on how this meeting goes, that he'll be available."

Watson has missed the last three games since being subbed out of Essendon's win over Port Adelaide in round 15.
