Recent rain has forced the entire car parking area to be closed to everyone including the public, media, disabled permit holders, emergency services personnel and event staff.
It was determined by the MCC, which manages Yarra Park, that a large portion of the surface would be at risk of damage if used by vehicles in the coming days.
Yarra Park will also be closed to Sunday's MCG Stadium Stomp event and to patrons attending events in the precinct, such as Disney on Ice.
