JAIDYN Stephenson was presented the 2016 AFL Life Members Education Fund Award at a function held today at the MCG.
The award was created 28 years ago and is now named in honour of AFL Life Members Alan Schwab and Jack Collins for their contribution to the AFL and in particular the development of young players in the game.
The award includes an $8000 scholarship to assist with Jaidyn’s schooling.
Previous winners of the award include Joel Selwood, Luke Hodge, Tom Scully, Jonathon Patton, Daniel Wells, Lachie Whitfield, Nic Naitanui, Andrew Gaff and Darcy Parish.
Jaiydn is a member of the NAB AFL Academy – Level Two Squad and will play in the NAB All Stars – Under-17 Match at the MCG on as a curtain-raiser to the 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final. The match starts at 10am and will be streamed live on afl.com.au.
At 188cm and 76kg medium forward, Jaiydn has great speed and agility is strong overhead and an innate ability around goal. He played 11 games with the Eastern Ranges this year averaging 15 disposals and kicked 23 goals – including five goals against the Geelong Falcons in round 15 and four goals against the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup elimination final.
