DUAL premiership defender Brian Lake has signed a contract extension with Hawthorn, agreeing to play on for a 14th season. 

The 32-year-old, who crossed from the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2012, has won two premierships and a Norm Smith Medal in his two seasons with the Hawks, playing 32 games. 

He is likely to be joined by Melbourne free agent James Frawley in the backline next season. 

"Brian has contributed exactly what we wanted over the past two years, and has finished this season in good form," recruiting and list manager Graham Wright told hawthornfc.com.au. 

"We look forward to his continued involvement at Hawthorn Football Club in 2015."

Lake played 11 games in 2014, suffering a calf injury mid-season and serving two suspensions, including a month-long ban for a strangle hold on North Melbourne forward Drew Petrie.

He found top form in September and was a key contributor in the Grand Final, curbing star Swan Kurt Tippett.
