Collingwood ruckman Darren Jolly has been ruled out of Sunday’s twilight round six clash with the Western Bulldogs at the MCG with knee soreness.

The premiership ruckman is the only confirmed change from the side that triumphed by 30 points over Essendon on ANZAC Day, with Cameron Wood returning to replace Jolly in the ruck for the second time in three weeks.

Jolly, 29, played 142 consecutive AFL matches before missing the round four win over Richmond with the same injury. He was one of Collingwood’s best in the victory over the Bombers last Sunday.

Andrew Krakouer, John McCarthy and Simon Buckley join Wood in the squad of 25 that will be trimmed to 22 on Friday afternoon.

Krakouer played the first four matches of 2011 in his first season at Collingwood before he was omitted for the ANZAC Day game. He didn’t play any football last weekend.

McCarthy, meanwhile, gathered 30 disposals and kicked three goals in the VFL Magpies’ loss to Bendigo last week, and finds himself on the verge of his first AFL game for the season after a number of excellent VFL performances so far this year. The 21-year-old midfielder, who debuted in 2008, has played a total of 10 senior games, the last of which came in round 22 last year.

Buckley played the first two matches of the season and performed well in defence, before a groin injury forced him to miss round three. He hasn’t played at AFL or VFL level since.

Three key Bulldogs will miss through injury with Shaun Higgins (soreness, Ben Hudson (soreness) and Barry Hall (ankle) all ruled out. They have named potential debutant Jayden Schofield as on of the inclusions to their squad of 25.

The Magpies and Bulldogs will be competing for the annual Robert Rose Cup for the 12th time.

The Robert Rose Cup was first struck in 2000 to commemorate Robert’s contribution to sport and more importantly to raise funds for the Robert Rose Foundation. The foundation provides support to those suffering from spinal injuries and physical disabilities through Independence Australia.
