WESTERN Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has confirmed the return of veteran Dale Morris via the VFL this weekend, following a remarkable recovery from a knee injury.

The 36-year-old will line-up against Port Melbourne on Saturday afternoon a mere 106 days after he partially tore his left ACL in March.

Beveridge believes Morris is ready to play the majority of the game but tempered expectations of a quick call-up to AFL level.

"He (Morris) is as eager as he was when he played his first game all those years ago, so hopefully he gets through all right," Beveridge said on Thursday.

"I imagine it will be around about 80 percent game time, which is a full game in most midfield senses but maybe a slight few minutes down from a backman's perspective.

"Probably not (straight into the senior team next week). When he came back from the other one he needed a few (weeks). I would imagine it would take a bit longer than one game."

Beveridge expected an unchanged 22 for their interstate trip to Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

Despite coming off a nine-point loss to Collingwood, Beveridge said there was a sense of belief after a strong performance against a top-four fancy.

"Two areas of the ground where we've been really vulnerable is just finish, being able to kick more goals obviously and, [at] the other end, in just giving them up too easy," Beveridge said.

"Is it simple? Theoretically yes, but it's all to do with what your capacity and capability is within your playing ranks."

Those capabilities at the defensive end will be tested again by powerhouse Power forward Charlie Dixon, who has kicked 12 goals in the past three encounters between the sides.

"Our key defenders have been a bit of a revolving door based on different circumstances, availability and player movement, all that sort of stuff," Beveridge said.

"Last time we were really compromised with who was available. I don't think Jackson Trengove has ever been in our backline when we've played Port Adelaide, Jackson will be in there this time."

The Bulldogs have not won an interstate game since round 20, 2017 against Brisbane at the Gabba.
