MELBOURNE forward Kysaiah Pickett has copped a one-match ban for rough conduct on Jake Soligo during Thursday night's win over Adelaide, while teammate Jacob van Rooyen has been slapped with a fine for striking Mark Keane.

Pickett left the ground and collected the Crows midfielder in the head during the second quarter of the Gather Round clash, resulting in Soligo earning a free kick.

The Match Review Officer has graded the incident as careless conduct with high contact and a medium impact, which has triggered a one-match suspension.

Earlier on Friday, Soligo played down the incident.

"I didn't think there was too much (in it)," Soligo said.

"I kept playing through the game so I was fine. I was all sweet."

Pickett will now miss next Thursday's clash against Brisbane at the MCG.

He sat out two games last season for a high hit on Western Bulldogs star Bailey Smith and another match for bumping Carlton captain Patrick Cripps in the head during last year's semi-final.

"Obviously he was trying to smother a handball and that will be looked at through the week, I'm sure," coach Simon Goodwin said after the match.

"But we'll just wait and see with that.

"He puts enormous pressure on, he tries to intercept the ball, that's his game.

"He's modified a lot of what he's done previously, and I don't see that in his game much at all anymore. Tonight's a little bit different."

Meanwhile van Rooyen has been hit with a fine after the Match Review Officer graded the first-quarter incident involving Adelaide defender Keane as intentional, low-impact, body-contact.

The 20-year-old has been fined $3,750 ($2,500 with an early plea).
