ONE OF Brisbane's feel-good stories of 2018 has extended his contract with Matt Eagles signing on for another season.
The Category B rookie completed his journey from reality television personality to AFL footballer when he debuted against Collingwood in round seven.
Eagles played four games, including kicking a memorable goal against Hawthorn, before requiring season-ending surgery for an abdominal injury.
Fellow rookie Mitch Hinge has also signed on for a third season.
For Eagles, signing on was a no-brainer.
"When the club said they wanted to extend my contract for another year, it was overwhelming," Eagles told the club's website.
"I'm obviously really happy and I look forward to putting in more hard work."
Eagles came to the Lions in the 2016 pre-season after winning Foxtel’s reality program The Recruit and impressed during his 2017 NEAFL season.
General manager of football David Noble praised the defender's work ethic.
"Matt has continued to improve and his strong performance at AFL level made it an easy decision to offer him a contract,” Noble said.
"He's a really popular player amongst the group with a great work ethic to match."
