NORTH Melbourne backman Aaron Mullett will miss at least one week after fracturing his hand against Gold Coast on Saturday night.
Mullett, 25, injured the fourth metacarpal in his right hand while spoiling Gold Coast forward Tom Lynch in the second quarter.
He played out the rest of the game and won 24 disposals and seven rebound-50s from 87 per cent game time.
He will undergo surgery with the Roos hopeful he will only miss one game.
"Aaron met with a specialist (on Monday) morning and will have surgery to insert a small plate in his hand later (on Monday) afternoon," North doctor Peter Baquie told NMFC.com.au.
"After the procedure, it will simply be a matter of allowing the wound enough time to heal before he can return. We anticipate that will only be one to two weeks at the most."
The Kangaroos face a tough challenge this Saturday, going up against the unbeaten Adelaide at Blundstone Arena in Tasmania, before facing the winless Sydney in round eight.
Mullett is third in the competition for rebound-50s per game. He missed round one but has played every match since.
The Kangaroos posted their first win of the season against the Suns.
