It is the responsibility of all Cheer Squad members to obey the rules set forth by the Australian Football League. These rules are in place for all sixteen club Cheer Squads.

- Alcohol is strictly forbidden from being brought into the ground, strictly forbidden from being consumed within the designated Cheer Squad area by any person.
- The minimum age to be able to access the ground to assist with holding the banner is thirteen (13) years old. Ground managers will enforce this rule.
- Cheer Squads are to remain off the ground until after the second siren has sounded at the end of the game.
- Cheer Squad members are not to stand on the seats or other foreign objects (crates, stools etc.) at any time.
- Abusive, insulting and threatening language will not be tolerated in the Cheer Squad area.
- No person including Cheer Squad members are to throw the match football at the Goal Umpire after a score. Any person caught will be escorted from the ground, charged by the police, and have there membership card cancelled by the AFL. The club in question will also be fined.
- Messages on hand held banners are not to be offensive to clubs, the public or any other party.
- Floggers and flags shall only be over the fence when in use. Not to be left over fence and cover sponsors signage.
- All flag poles must be no longer than 1.8 metres (6 feet) in length. All poles must include a flag. Music sticks, bells and other instruments are strictly banned and will be confiscated by the Ground Manager.
- There is to be no cut up paper or streamers thrown onto the arena or taken into any ground.

Penalties will be imposed by the AFL following reports from individual Ground Managers. Fine will not carry over from previous seasons.
