GEELONG has delisted former junior basketball star Michael Luxford as the overhaul of the Cats' list continues.

Luxford played two AFL games in 2015, starting as the sub both times, after being drafted as a category B rookie the previous year.

The 21-year-old midfielder showed enough promise to be upgraded to the senior list but couldn't crack an opportunity at the top level this season.

Geelong football manager Steve Hocking paid tribute to the former Australia under-19 point guard, who had never played organised football before joining the Cats.

"Michael is an impressive sporting talent who worked diligently on his game to transition from basketball to football," Hocking said.

"He was popular amongst his teammates and we wish him all the best in his future sporting endeavours."

Luxford is the 13th Cat to leave the club this off-season, following retired champions Jimmy Bartel and Corey Enright, plus delisted big man Mitch Clark, out the door.
