GREATER Western Sydney superstar Sam Taylor has officially been ruled out for the Giants' Anzac Day clash against Brisbane next week as he continues his recovery from concussion.

Taylor was always going to miss Saturday’s blockbuster against Carlton following the sickening head clash with St Kilda captain Jack Steele in Canberra last Saturday, but there was some hope he would recover in time to face the Lions.

However, the Giants have officially put a line through the All-Australian defender for the return to Canberra on Anzac Day to ensure he doesn't push his recovery after such a serious head knock.

The hope is Taylor will return for a mammoth Sydney derby against the Swans in round eight along with gun midfielder Stephen Coniglio, who will also miss the next two weeks with a knee injury.

"The 12th day (of concussion protocols) falls on the Brisbane game so technically he (Taylor) could play but we're not going to play him in that, we're going to be a little more cautious with him for no other reason than we feel it's the right decision to make," Kingsley said.

Giants veteran Callan Ward is set to return for the match against the Blues this week in place of Coniglio, while former club champion Nick Haynes and Leek Aleer are fighting to take Taylor's spot this week as the Giants try and quell the influence of Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay.

Kingsley said there'll be no change to the approach from the unbeaten Giants and their famous surge out of the backline, despite Taylor's absence and the Blues' attacking threats.

"We'll play the same way. We think it stacks up any time of year against anyone. As long as we can execute it at a high level then we'll give ourselves an opportunity. It doesn't mean we'll win every game, but we'll give ourselves a chance to," he said.

"Our system won't change. The people within it sometimes do.

"It would have been a tough game with those two important players too. We're looking forward to it. We've got some good depth on our list that can cover those guys. They (Carlton) are facing a few of their own (injury) issues as well so it's primed to be a good match."

Another selection point of note at the Giants surrounds their Manuka Oval hero from last week in James Peatling, who looks like being rewarded with a place in the starting 22 after three weeks as a substitute.

"I would say he's likely but it's hard to really be concrete on it," Kingsley said.

"Ben Hart his midfield coach will have a strong opinion, so I need to listen to his advice before making a decision."
