WEST Coast ruckman Dean Cox has suffered a minor pre-season setback, dislocating a finger at training last Friday.

Cox will move into the Eagles' rehab group this week and miss a block of skill sessions, but "there will be no lingering issues", according to the club.

The six-time All Australian has enjoyed one of his strongest pre-seasons so far while ruck partner Nic Naitanui has been restricted following groin surgery.

Cox, 31, who kicked a career-high 28.14 last year, remains primed to carry an increased ruck load in his 13th season if Naitanui is unavailable for the early rounds.

Young ruckman Scott Lycett has been one of West Coast's big improvers this pre-season, while rookie big man Callum Sinclair is expected to receive opportunities during the NAB Cup.
