The 31-year-old trained strongly at Simonds Stadium on Tuesday morning, erasing fears that he might be in doubt for the Cats' round one blockbuster against Hawthorn.
"It was a bit of a knock in a contest in the forward 50, and he was a little bit sore but he's pulled up fine," Geelong assistant coach James Rahilly said.
"It was only really a precautionary measure to take him off. If it was round one (of the home and away season) we probably would have kept him playing."
Chapman is now rated a good chance to line up for the Cats in Saturday's round three NAB Cup clash against North Melbourne at Simonds Stadium.
"I can't see why he wouldn't play on the weekend," Rahilly said.
Geelong is planning to recall a number of its biggest names for the game against the Kangaroos.
Joel Selwood, Tom Hawkins, Steve Johnson, Joel Corey, Allen Christensen and Tom Lonergan, who all missed the Cats' 63-point demolition of the Crows, are all set to return.
"All going well, I don't why they all wouldn't play," Rahilly said.
Small forward Mathew Stokes trained strongly during the first part of Tuesday's session, but the ankle injury he suffered in Perth on the opening weekend of the NAB Cup is still being closely managed.
"He might struggle to play this week, but he's training quite well," Rahilly said.
"He's in our rehab group program still, but he's doing a lot of the running – a lot of the changing of direction.
"He's coming up really well. He's actually a quick healer – he says so himself. So he's looking alright for next week."
The Cats and the Roos know plenty about each other already, as the teams went head to head in four competitive training sessions at Simonds Stadium in the weeks after Christmas.
"They probably know the ground a bit better because they haven't played here for a year or so," Rahilly said. "They might try a few different tactics.
"They were great hit-outs. We got a lot out of it and I'm sure they did as well.
"They're in form – they haven’t lost a game, and I think Petrie and Swallow will probably come back in, so they'll have a pretty strong side."
Rahilly has already quizzed Geelong recruit Hamish McIntosh, who played 107 games for North Melbourne between 2005 and 2012, to get some extra knowledge about Brad Scott's side.
"Being the forward coach, and he played down there in the structure a little bit, I've got a bit out of that," Rahilly said.
"And just how they go about it, he's given us a little insight, which is always handy."
