AN ILL David Zaharakis left training early on Thursday, but the Essendon midfielder is not expected to miss the clash with West Coast.
The club is also confident captain Dyson Heppell's hand injury, sustained in a kitchen accident on his birthday, won't be an issue this Sunday.
Zaharakis, whose 31 touches last week helped the Bombers upset Geelong, left training early on Thursday and stayed behind closed doors during match simulations.
But his illness was of little concern to Essendon coach John Worsfold.
"He was a little bit ill a day or two ago so we're just easing him back into it … he'll be fine," Worsfold told reporters.
Heppell trained well and appeared untroubled by the bandaged wound on his left hand.
A day after his team emerged unscathed from the Cats match, the 25-year-old cut his hand on a broken plate after trying to stop it crashing into the kitchen bench.
Heppell immediately rang the club doctor, who then called Worsfold.
"Depending on who the player is, a lot of different thoughts race through your mind," the coach said.
"With Dyson, it's how could he have possibly done that – (with) other players, you think what has he done?"
If Joe Daniher's recent erratic form in front of goal has been causing more headaches, Worsfold was keeping a straight face.
Worsfold said the tall forward had "done nothing different than his normal week to week" training to consolidate his improved accuracy (8.2 in the past two matches) after returning 1.6 against Melbourne and 3.4 against Richmond.
"Goalkicking isn't about finding a one-size-fits-all routine," he said.
"It's a tough skill, depending on the angle and the distance, but I think the players do it pretty well."
"Each player has a different routine and ... if there are any issues in their technique, we get the right person to address that."
