HAWTHORN'S impact on this year's trade period has continued with midfielders Josh Kennedy and Ben McGlynn bound for the Sydney Swans in exchange for picks 39, 46 and 70 in the NAB AFL Draft.
After discussing the Swans' approach with coach Alastair Clarkson, Kennedy accepted a three-year offer to head north.
Recruited as a father-son selection in 2006, Kennedy played just 13 games in two seasons for a club so strongly tied to his family.
The 21-year-old's grandfather, John senior, was the Hawks' first premiership coach while his father, John junior, played in four Hawthorn premierships in the 1980s.
McGlynn, 24, played the last 16 games of Hawthorn's 2009 campaign to take his career tally to 44, but had informed the club he would take his chances in the national draft or pre-season draft if a deal wasn't struck with the Swans.
"While we are disappointed to be losing both Josh and Ben to the Sydney Swans we understand that both players have been presented with opportunities that they see as attractive and wish them well for the future," Hawthorn general manager of player personnel and strategy Chris Pelchen said.
Hawthorn finally secured Port Adelaide onballer Shaun Burgoyne on Thursday night, adding his signature to former North Melbourne backman Josh Gibson, who was the first transaction of the week.
The 2009 AFL exchange period runs from October 5-9. No trades are official until paperwork has been accepted by the AFL and formally recognised after 2pm on Friday, October 9.
