GARY Ablett will travel to Melbourne next week to discuss surgical options for his injured left shoulder.
Scans on Monday confirmed Ablett would require surgery and miss the remainder of 2016 after injuring the shoulder in Saturday night's QClash against the Brisbane Lions,
It is the same shoulder the Gold Coast captain dislocated and had reconstructed in 2014, and just like that occasion, the man charged with repairing it is Dr Greg Hoy.
Ablett will meet Dr Hoy next week, alongside the Gold Coast club doctor to discuss his options.
Match preview: Western Bulldogs v Gold Coast
This injury is not as significant as two years ago.
Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft said there would be no exact timeframe on Ablett's recovery until after his meeting with Dr Hoy.
However, Ashcroft confirmed Ablett would be right to participate in day one of the Suns' pre-season training in November.
Michael Rischitelli will also travel to Melbourne next week to see Dr Julian Feller about reconstructing his ruptured ACL.
Rischitelli also sustained the injury against the Lions.
Ashcroft ruled out undergoing LARS, meaning Rischitelli will look to resume playing sometime in mid 2017.
