JUSTIN Leppitsch has outlined his vision for 2017 and beyond to the Brisbane Lions' board in what amounts to a last-ditch pitch to save his job.
Outlining the problems he inherited when he took over as Lions coach in late 2013, Leppitsch on Tuesday offered the board a detailed presentation on his plans for the club's future.
Following the meeting, Brisbane Lions chairman Bob Sharpless told AFL.com.au no decision had been made on Leppitsch's future and the board would reconvene next week.
"There's no news at the moment because we haven't made a decision," Sharpless said.
"We were always going to wait until after the season was completed to finalise our position.
"We've just been gathering as much information as possible.
"It's a complex decision."
Leppitsch is contracted until the end of 2017 but, with just 14 wins from 65 games, is widely believed to be facing the axe.
The former triple premiership star is not going down without a fight, though.
Sharpless said Leppitsch took the Lions board on a "journey" that outlined changes in the list, the club's horror injury toll, and player development over his three years in charge.
The leadership group, led by captain Tom Rockliff, also presented along with list manager Peter Schwab and football manager Matt Francis.
The make-up of the assistant coaching staff for 2017 was also discussed, with Simon Black already announcing his departure, and Shane Woewodin and Gary O'Donnell among those set to join him.
