It was a great atmosphere out there tonight and the team is finally back on the winners list again, how does it feel?
TW: It feels good and it’s been a fair week at the club with everything that has happened so to come away with a win is a good feeling. We are all working (hard) together to play some good footy and are looking forward to the next five weeks.
It was a pretty even contest in the first quarter but you came back in the second quarter and reacted strongly with five goals, how was Mark (Bickley) at half time?
TW: I think he was pretty nervous, he’s been nervous all week - being his first game. He just wanted us to attack the game and take it on. I think we really did that well today and it’s pretty hard to defend us when we play like that so we were able to play some good footy and come away with a win.
Port came out strong in the third quarter but the team reacted to that in their intensity and kept it going for the majority of four quarters tonight …
TW: I thought our performance and intensity was really good for four quarters tonight. We were finally able to perform like we have been wanting to and it was really good to come out after half time and put our game plan on show.
How have the Showdown preparations been after everything that had happened during the week?
TW: Obviously at the start of the week it was a bit up and down but I think once we got that out of the way, everyone knew what we had to do and also what we wanted to achieve so we were able to get back on track and got what we needed and wanted - got the win especially in the Showdown, they are always big weeks.
It was good to see over 40,000 supporters out there tonight, do you have a message for the fans?
TW: It’s great to see them come back after our performance last week. We obviously weren’t happy with our effort (last week) and would love the support and as many to come out for the last five weeks of the season. We want to perform better and create more wins like tonight for the fans so come out and support us in trying to achieve that.
