YOUNG Western Bulldogs midfielder Ryley Sanders is a late inclusion for the side's important clash with Sydney, replacing tall defender James O'Donnell who is out with illness.

Sanders, who has been named for his seventh career game, will start as the Dogs' substitute.

His selection comes after a string of strong performances in the VFL, including 42 disposals and 12 clearances against Richmond a fortnight ago.

His last game at AFL level, in round six against St Kilda, also saw him start as the sub.

Sydney has named a returning Matt Roberts as its sub for the match, after resting the 20-year-old in its 52-point win over Carlton last week.

The Bulldogs (5-5) have revitalised their spluttering season with back-to-back wins, including a clinical dismantling of heated rivals Greater Western Sydney last week.

But the Dogs are coming off a five-day break ahead of facing the white-hot Swans, who have only dropped one game this season.

Sydney (9-1) can stretch its blistering start to the season to a 10-1 record for the first time since 1936 with a seventh consecutive victory.

Their stunning early-season streak has helped the Swans open up a gap on the chasing pack, and they'll be keen to maintain that handy break with another win before a week off with a bye.

Both sides have made one change each, with Roberts returning in place of the injured Robbie Fox (shoulder) and utility Anthony Scott named for his first game of the year in place of Luke Cleary.
