ALL EYES are now on September action and finals permutations are being worked out all over the country. 

Finals can sometimes throw up odd results, but strong records against other top sides can hold you in good stead coming into the first week of the spring.

Despite playing a whopping 11 games against top eight sides, the Pies have the highest winning percentage of any finals side.

Will be confident coming up against Western Bulldogs or Essendon, having beaten both of those sides twice.

Lost to Geelong, its opponent in the qualifying final, back in round one.

Geelong (Eight games, five wins, three losses, 62.5% win rate)

Played the equal fewest number of games against top-eight sides, with eight matches, but has the second-highest winning percentage.

Had a particularly strong patch in the middle of the season, knocking off West Coast, Essendon, Western Bulldogs and Richmond.

Defeated its qualifying final opponent Collingwood in round one.

Richmond (Nine games, five wins, four losses, 55.6% win rate)

The third of three sides to have a winning percentage of more than 50 against fellow top eight sides (55.6).

Split games with Collingwood and GWS during the season.

Defeated qualifying final match-up Brisbane in round 23.

Western Bulldogs (10 games, five wins, five losses, 50.0% win rate)

Played the second-most games against fellow top sides, despite finishing outside the eight last year.

Split games with Brisbane and Geelong, while losing to Collingwood twice.

Thumped elimination final foe GWS in the match two weeks ago.

Brisbane (Eight games, four wins, four losses, 50.0% win rate)

After finishing 15th in 2018, had the equal fewest games against top eight sides (eight) and won half of them.

Three of the Lions' four top-eight wins came in the second half of the season.

Had a loss to qualifying final opponent Richmond in round 23.

West Coast (Eight games, four wins, four losses, 50.0% win rate)

Given West Coast won the flag, the Eagles did well to have just eight games against top-eight sides, the equal fewest of the finals-bound teams.

All four of the Eagles' losses to top-eight sides came against teams who finished in the top four.

Comfortably accounted for elimination finals match-up Essendon mid-season.

Greater Western Sydney (Nine games, four wins, five losses, 44.4% win rate)

One of two teams with a win-rate of less than 50 per cent against top-eight teams.

Won one and lost one against both Essendon and Richmond, with three of its four wins coming in the first four rounds of the season.

Were demolished by Western Bulldogs, who GWS will face in the elimination final.

Essendon (Nine games, two wins, seven losses, 22.2% win rate)

Won just two games against top-eight sides, losing a disappointing seven, comfortably the worst record of any finals side.

One of its two scalps was second-placed Brisbane, however the win came in round four.

Lost by 35 points to elimination final opponent West Coast earlier this year.
