ST KILDA has confirmed its interest in West Coast star Andrew Gaff.
The out-of-contract midfielder is averaging career-high numbers for disposals (31), contested possessions (9) and goals (0.7).
After a disastrous season for the Saints, having won four games, football manager Simon Lethlean told Channel Nine on Sunday his side would speak to the Eagle.
"I think every Victorian club has enquired about Gaff. We've been on record saying we're going to be as aggressive as we can in the trade and free agency markets," Lethlean said.
"We're certainly interested in all good players that can come and add to the St Kilda on-field and off-field standards and Gaff's certainly a great player.
"We'd be interested in talking to him."
As it stands, St Kilda doesn't have any second or third-round picks in the NAB AFL Draft but want to change that.
"Certainly the second and third rounds, we need to get back in there. Those discussions now take place over the next few months," Lethlean said.
Onballers are on the agenda for the Saints' first selection but if tall prospects Max or Ben King are available, they could prove too tempting to pass up.
"We need some class and some speed and some grunt. There's some midfielders that give you that but if the 6'10 Kings are around, you never know," Lethlean said.
